Cutting Paperweights

When I was in Vermont I found a few more Kaffe Fassette paperweight fabrics that I love, and I bought fat quarters of every one that I saw (all the while wishing that I could buy yardage, but remembering that I only have 1 lifetime to make all the quilts I want to, and my stash is big enough to last the current lifetime).
So in this heat wave, I have enjoyed the quilty job of fondling cutting up the paperweights for this project that I started at retreat in February. I had made 8 blocks and have cut enough fabric to make 12 more, with a layout of 4 blocks across (60") and 5 down (75") which will make a good size quilt with a border or two.
In non-quilty news, I wore two different shoes to work one day this week! I walked all the way across the parking lot, through the ER department, and half way across the hospital to my office and didn't even notice! I'm blaming it on the heat! This photo shows my daughter's sense of humour!

  1. Your daughter is so helpful! I had to laugh, but I've done the same thing ... except it was one navy shoe and one black shoe, which when dressing in the dark at 6 a.m. in the winter do kind of look the same. That's my story anyway.

  2. I once wore two different brown shoes to work for the first day of a new job... I kept wondering why it felt funny walking -- turns out the heels were slightly different heights! How embarrassing...

Love those Kaffes, by the way

  4. How funny that your post talking about the unbearable heat links to a post where you talk about trudging through snow. Beautiful fabrics, I hope they help you get you blocks finished up.

  6. Your new fabrics look so gorgeous! I can totally see why you needed to play with them. Funny shoe story - I think many of us can definitely relate to it. Don't you just love "kids" with a sense of humour!

  7. Due to life's chaotic moments, I MISSED your Labryinth (sp?) post back in February. That is an amazing pattern/project.

My goodness Kathy---I'm having a hard time keeping up with all your projects lately; LOVE 'em all!

  8. Love the fabrics. Glad you are able to retund to the project. I have several myself I need more fabrics for. The shoe story is just too cute, sounds like something one of my daughters would do.

  9. Regarding the shoes, every morning when I walk down the deck stairs to the garage, I DO check! In the dark, foggy brain, hurried, it's easy to get them mixed up! 8-))

  10. Hi! I wore 2 different earrings, all day, and no one told me! Worst embarrassment ever!
We all do something like that...
    Take care, Leslie

  11. If the shoe thing happens again, just tell everyone you are starting a new style... ya, that'll work.
I noticed the Labyrinth and Indian Orange Peel are not on the UFO list. That's how I make lists, too. Put on the finished ones, and reserve some of the UFO's until they are finished. Works for me!
    Love, love, love your quilts!
    Hugs,

  15. I have an uncle that went out with a boot and a running shoe and didn't notice...so I think you are forgiven...at least they were both sandals! :o)

Incidentally his wife, on a separate occasion, travelled from the UK to Canada in slippers before she noticed her footwear...nutty bunch!
