It's "Scrappy Saturday" of the Rainbow Challenge and the colour of the month is pink.
I decided to return to working on my Bonnie Hunter mystery (which I have heard will be removed from the website at the end of the month) and finish sewing the 600 pink HST's.
I need these HST's sewn in strips of 5 to border the blocks which I finished sewing in January. It's been a long haul...very monotonous, but made more enjoyable by listening to a book on tape/CD. I wanted to read "The Help", but the waiting list at the library was long for the book. The CD's were available, but I was unsure if I could sew and listen at the same time. Turns out that I can do both!
I have already listened to half of the book on my little pink apple computer while sewing all these pink HST's. They are done and I am ready for the next step of the mystery and the next chapter of the book!
That's a LOT of HSTS and I see a LOT of PINK! I didn't even start that mystery. I saved a copy though. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lot of HSTs! Looks lovely though. Love the shot that you are using for your header.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a ton of pink! What a great accomplishment. Love the look of your new header.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great book to listen too while sewing all those pink (love em') HST's! I always listen to audio books when I sew. I listen on my I-Home and can just pause it if I need to stop and concentrate on my sewing. But when chain stitching oodles of piecing like HSTs I love the books. Turns out music really bothers me when I'm sewing, but books don't. Go figure...
ReplyDeleteWhat an accomplishment, congratulations
ReplyDeletewow~lots of HSTs. great job!
ReplyDeleteYea for listening for books while sewing. I actually listen more when ironing, cutting, pinning. I usually turn it off while the machine is going 'cause i really don't want to turn the thing up really loud. Could be because I'm listening on an E computer with really tinny sound. New speakers will come some day.
ReplyDeleteLove the bowtie finish. I was surprised how few of the 30's fabrics I had. I've got a collection from about that time period. And, yea for getting some work done on Roll, Roll. I haven't finished one of Bonnie's mysteries -- well, I've only started one so no wonder I don't have any finishes. Keep plugging away and save the directions on your computer.
I like the new heading-fascinating to study. I, too, knew there was a long list for "The Help", but got it in two weeks which was a hugh surprise and pleasure. It's at the Globe top spot this week. Great read. But to quilt and listen would be so grand--there is a Kindal in my future.
ReplyDeleteI also love listening to books while I sew! It feels great to be able to do two things I love at the same time. When I listened to The Help, my husband said I picked up a southern accent! I loved the book and am eager to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteThat mystery quilt is amazing, great job, I love your fabric choice.
600 pink HSTS!!!!!!!!!!! God love your patience!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI found a great app on my smart phone for audio books. I haven't used it yet, but I will have to try it out soon!!!!! I have alot of hand stitching ahead of me and I have only one more episode left recorded of a show I have been watching this past season!!!
Quiltingly Yours
Andrea
I had been wondering what happened to yours. Mine is languishing at stage one, oops. You are the only other person I know who is making it!! thanks for the heads-up about it being taken down, perhaps I'll have to print it all out, I don't want to spoil the surprise though :(
ReplyDeleteOh my I just went and had a peep at the finished quilt (just to see if it was worth it). Have you looked?? oh me oh me, it totally is worth it. I might wish I had used nicer fabric :( bother, i was stash busting. Never mind, the overall effect should be great.
ReplyDelete600, oh my I don't know if I would have the patience for that! Looks lovely though :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you for getting them done. My RRCB is languishing...I have to sew the top together but I fear I wasn't very accurate putting my hst's together so I have been avoiding it altogether. It looks at me everytime I go into my sewing room!
ReplyDeleteI love your pile of pieces! What a great header it makes!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I'm still working on my hsts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! All those tiny pieces! Looks perfectly done - very nice!
