Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, or pumpkin spice latte to enjoy while visiting the blogs of stitchers around the world. It's so inspiring to see what other people are creating with their own two hands.

I tried something new this week!

I stitched a Halloween design on a 3D printed base. Have you tried this before? I have stitched on a wooden base, but this was easier than stitching on wood. I used a free design on the Tiny Modernist website and made a few modifications to the pattern to make it fit... and also counting is hard! I had more room at the top than I needed and squished the cat and the pumpkin more than was necessary. But it all worked out okay and I have a Halloween ornament to put up this year.

Slow progress has also been made on "Knock, Knock" by Prairie Schooler. I finished the inside of the design - the trick or treating witch and the moon. And now I'm working on the top ghostie. This is a fun project and I am really jazzed about Halloween this year for some unknown reason.

For the next 2 weeks I am only going to stitch on Halloween projects - I think I have 4 of them on the go, and 2 more to start!

Are you a Halloween stitcher? I haven't been in the past, so I don't know why I am now, but you never can tell where your creativity will lead you!

Link up your stitchy update below and share your hand stitching progress with us!

  2. Stitching on a 3-D printed base is an interesting idea. Your attempt definitely turned out beautifully. I think a lot of what we decide to stitch comes down to if we are excited about the designs and the colors. You've definitely found some very fun Halloween projects to work on.

  3. Cute Halloween projects! My friend just finished a Halloween project and had it framed but I have never made a Halloween quilt or cross stitch picture. I tend more towards Fall projects that can be out on display for a longer period of time. We were recently on a bit of a getaway and saw a few very enthusiastic Halloween displays!

  4. Your pumpkin and black cat are cute! Stitching them on the 3-D printed base is interesting, too - did you make that yourself? It's definitely the perfect color! I love the other piece you're working on, too. I haven't done a ton of Halloween stitching, but a few pieces can be fun to put out. Have a wonderful,Sunday, Kathy!

  5. Oh, I love the idea of stitching on a 3D print! I don't do cross stitch but I will ponder how I can make this idea work for me. My son would do a print for me I am sure. Thanks for sharing that idea!

  7. I haven't been either, Kathy, but now I am really feeling the Halloween vibe, and there are many patterns I want to cross stitch. Love the Tiny Modernist free cat, it is so cute. You made great progress on Knock,Knock pattern. Looking forward to see what will come next week. Happy stitching.

  8. I like that cute ornament. I love Knock, Knock. I don't mind cute Halloween stitching. I have never been a fan of the holiday as my maiden name was Trick. You can understand why.
