Welcome to the hand stitching party! Pull up a virtual chair, make yourself a yummy beverage and snack, and enjoy some time with your needles and threads. This week I have 2 stitching projects that are not mine that I am adding stitches to.
The first one is a Canadian round robin project called Flosstube Friends. I am working on Sarah's project (The Rocking Chair Stitcher) right now.
Do you see my mistake? That's okay - it's an easy fix because I caught it early and it's not too much to rip out. I'll be finishing it up soon and get it in the mail to the next stitcher to enjoy.
The second project was sent to me by Olivia @LongLivTheStitcher. We are doing an exchange to help each other make progress on a project that is stuck. Her project is called "Coffee Bean Sampler; The Magical Elixir Series #4". This is the package I received from her in the mail. I love it and am so happy that the mail services in her country and in mine were diligent about taking good care of it and delivered it safely. I hope to work on it today. The next part to stitch is where the letters say "My birthstone is the coffee bean"!
It is odd how we sometimes lose interest in things we are stitching. And yet someone else can find that fresh interest and joy, and be excited to work on your old dusty projects. I am digging around in my WIP bin to find something I have lost interest in and send it to Liv for some stitching attention.Do you have any stitching projects that you have lost interest in? A bag of unloved, half finished items in a bag behind your chair? Things in closets in tote bins? Remember that you used to love each one of them and maybe they just need some fresh eyes and a little TLC to become something you can finish? Or pass on to someone else who will be delighted to have it?
Exchanging your stalled projects with others is a great way to motivate everyone to get them finished. Glad that you caught your little mistake early and that you didn’t have to do very much unstitching! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting idea to exchange stitching projects with another cross-stitcher! I've done that with quilt projects but not cross-stitch. I bet it will introduce to designs/designers that you've never heard of! Have a wonderful Sunday, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a clever idea!
ReplyDeleteWe do something similar at our guild, it is called Peas on a Plate. The leader never liked peas, so she always wanted to trade plates to get rid of them. So we bring unfinished projects and trade them for something someone else doesn't want to finish. It has been fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea to move the stitches along. Yes, some of my pieces get put on the back burner. Eventually, I pick them up again and wonder why did I put it away in the 1st place. Happy Stitching, Kathy.n
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of passing stalled projects around to get them restarted again among friends. I can't tell what you did wrong in that cross stitching without a picture of what it was supposed to look like, but I sure do remember how annoying it felt the last time that happened to me and I had to pull out otherwise lovely stitches to get back to where I could fix the mistake. Your needlework is always magnificent; I'm still scrolling back and admiring your Quick Quaker Stitch Along in all of those luscious greens!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful projects! I'm working on quilting...this looks like fun.

What a fun way to move things along to finished. I have a couple of projects that only get love when I'm traveling. But that's OK. I'd have to find something new to work on when I'm on the road once I get those done.
ReplyDeleteI recently came across an embroidery that I long ago lost interest in. I started it years ago and was not very adept at embroidery (still not a favorite of mine) I picked it up to work on again after reading your post and realized that the reason I had put it down is that I had run out of a couple of the yarn colors. I assessed the project, decided it was not very well done and did not warrant me buying more supplies. Since it was so old and poorly stitched I trashed it. Not something that I do lightly. I am glad you and Olivia will be finishing each other's projects. Enjoy your stitching.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about swapping projects! How wonderful, I wonder if you could do a round robin type thing where you pass on to another person in a chain, then get excited when you get it back, and see how much was done?
