Indigo Way Step #3

It's Friday and that means another Quiltville Indigo Way mystery clue was posted. I have fallen a bit behind (already) in the second week! Even though I cut a million triangles, it was not nearly enough of the trillion light background pieces that are needed. For those of you sewing along, pink in my quilt is red in the pattern.

I do enjoy making these sweet blocks, but it was hard to find time on the schedule for sewing this week. That's okay - some weeks are like that.

I went ahead to step #3 and did some cutting and sewing.  My quilt's light blue fabrics will be aqua. Don't you love a creative selvage? These aqua campers are a fun surprise on this RJR fabric.

We are making "split half square triangles" in week #3, which is another fun block to sew. I am making my version of this mystery in half sized blocks. So cute!

I have some little block sets in a baggie all ready to sew in the evenings when my body is still awake but my brain is already asleep. If you cut accurately, and sew with a scant 1/4" seam, these blocks turn out exactly the right size. No trimming required!

If there is extra time this week, I will come back and work on finishing the step #2 pieces.

How is your mystery coming along?

  1. OH how pretty! I have all of the clues cut out, and only step one completed. I have half of step two completed. I do love step three!! It is one of my favorites. Onward, friend!

  2. I've finished 1 and 2. Lots of cutting in store for step 3!

  3. I am saving the clues for now as I don't know if I want to make it yet - I'm one of those that don't like the "mystery" in mystery quits - I want to know what it looks like first so I can decide my colors then and if I think I will like it when done. Are you making the whole quilt or making it smaller?

  4. Your colors are so delicate and pretty.
My mystery is coming along great--I am on chapter 8. Oh, wait. I guess you don't mean a book.

  5. I'm with Karen - Quilts ... etc. on this one. I need to know if I like the pattern enough to invest all the time and fabrics into it. So, I'm saving all the clues and will play later ... maybe. Enjoy your itty bitty bits. ;^)

  6. I'm working on the mystery too, but also haven't had time to finish any of the clues. I have cut out a few sets of each clue so far and getting a basket set up for cut pieces and can just grab and sew when I have time. Usually the week between Christmas and New Years I catch up on the sewing :-). Yours looks lovely! I'm using a lot of my Schweschwe indigo's (need to get a few more!) for the dark blue and my reds are a warm red. Fun times!

  7. Love your color choices for this mystery. I'm behind on both clue 1 and clue 2. I just started cutting the fabrics for clue 3. It's OK, it will get done when it gets done. I'm enjoying playing along.

  9. What lovely colors you have selected - and at half size! Well done! We are moving this month (I wan't even able to put out my Christmas decorations :( ), so I am not participating, but I am enjoying everyone's progress and hope to get to it whenever we get moved and settled.

  10. Happy Monday, dear Kathy. I know you feel like you are behind, but I am always amazed by how much you accomplish. Such lovely fabrics that you have chosen for the new challenge. I look forward to following your progress on this beauty.

  11. Cute blocks. I'm using Bonnie's colors, except I'm using a red print instead of a solid. I'm doing the paper piece version, and I'm almost done with clue #4.
