One of the primary ways I sew scrap quilts is following along with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Every month our host Angela gives us a colour to focus on for that month. It's a great way to keep scraps organized and constantly being sewn into projects.
This month I am so happy to have finished one of my rainbow quilt tops - a waffle project (non edible!)
This project was inspired by Nann and I started sewing waffles in June 2020. This is the perfect project to use up 1.5" squares and strips.
And now for the age old question - does it need a border? It doesn't need to be bigger but does it need a frame?!?

That's so pretty, Kathy! Love how you've laid it out with darks flowing to lights and back again. I think it's perfect without a border!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure I liked that block but now that I see it in a quilt it's great, and a great scrapper! I'll keep this in mind for a future RSC. And I don't think it needs a border.
ReplyDeleteLove the look! A small border would help stabilize all the seams around the edges. Just a thought ...
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovey--the only reason I can see for a little border is that it would make it easier to add binding--avoiding all those edges...

[but I am still waffling! hahaha]. Its either that or a lego-type one...
Did you enjoy the process on this one? Just wondering--if you are like me, certain blocks/quilts fall easily into your comfort zone and are fun to make...

ReplyDeleteIf you use a dark border, maybe black, it will work as a frame without the added size or work. This quilt is great as it is!
ReplyDeleteNon-edible! You crack me up. It's lovely already but I would go with a border, black or white but IMHO needs to be peppered with little specks of colours. Enjoy! ;^)

ReplyDeleteLovely quilt, love the way you have organised the different coloured blocks . Don’t think it needs a border but I can see the sense of anchoring all the ends of the blocks with a dark narrow border as other people have suggested.
