I'm not sure if this is the layout, but I sewed 4 blocks for clue #6 and did not like my yellow/gold 9 patch centres at all. It seemed like a good choice at the time, but the contrast was not enough to make me happy in the centre of these blocks.
So I tried a couple of blocks with a black 9 patch centre and this is much better! I will unstitch the 4 blocks with the gold centres, and make them all with black 9 patches.
If it's a 2 block layout, this is what it might look like (photo is very dark, taken late at night!)
I hope to be ready for clue #7 in October.
Linking up to Design Wall Monday
The black 9 patches do work better. I like the 2 block setting you've come up with. How long does the mystery last? Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lot of HSTs!! Great choice on the navy squares, the contrast is much better.
ReplyDeleteLet’s see - on the Serenity Prayer I would either border it as a wall hanging, or better yet frame it to protect the fabric. Either way it is very pretty - one of my favorites, but when I have tried to recite it I always get it mixed up! LOL
ReplyDeleteYup - lots of HSTs and they look small! I do like the 2nd setting also. The Black makes the block really pop!
Interesting Mystery quilt.
Hugs, still trying to sign your URL up with Follow it. Think it went through this time. Hugs
Your blocks look great. There seem to be so many mystery quilts throughout the year. I wonder how folks choose which ones to make. I'll have to try to keep track of this blog and look for her future mystery quilts.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it depends on the look you want. I know you don't know whether or not this is the layout, but as I look at the one with the yellow 9-patches, I think they make the stars stand out more. The dark 9-patches in everything even out the statement made by each block.
ReplyDeleteYes the darker nine patches work better! Your two block layout is very nice as well. I love the look of it but I know how many hst it takes...I don't have that kind of time!! haha
