One of my favourite summer things is to prepare is a take along hand quilting project. It doesn't require many supplies, it's easily portable and does not require much brain power.
I started quilting with a gold YLI thread but I didn't like how the centre looked.
So I removed the circle of stitches in the middle, finished outlining the star, and then started using some perle cotton #8. Much better. The quilting design is starting to make me happier now. I'll add more stitches today and see how it comes along.
I'm also very close to finishing the words on my embroidery meditation - just need to finish the word "difference" and I'm moving on to the flowers!
What are you hand stitching today?
Mini quilts are so much fun. Someday... I too will hand stitch on a mini quilt. Enjoy your stitching time.
ReplyDeleteThe perle cotton looks as the perfect thread for quilting this beautiful mini.
ReplyDeleteHappy slow quilting /embroidering day!
I recognise two of the fabrics in your project. I even think I still have some snippets left! Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI like the fabrics of the sawtooth star and the way that you are quilting it. You are so close to finishing those words. Enjoy your stitching today. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing some hand quilting, too! In the summer, a small quilt is good for that - not so much bulk to hold in your lap. I love the sunflower centers of your stars! Enjoy, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteLovely little mini quilting--I like that sunflower too--so cute!! Enjoy your stitching...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI recognize that Debbie Mumm print. I think there's a very tiny scrap of it my own stash. Such a happy little block, it's cute!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking I need to load a quilt on the frame for hand quilting! Been awhile since I worked on one. Hey less than a week to Piranha Weekend!!
ReplyDeleteA very cute star miniquilt! It's fun to sew miniquilts, and I'm going to make one this week too. All members of our quilting group will make one each. They will be used for pieces on the tables when we have our quilt meetings.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors in your take-along project!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Stars...and cotton thread looks
lots better. Have a great day!
Your mini quilt is lovely! I changed my mind and put the yarn aside for now. I’m having surgery next week and my husband how cold he was in the hospital last time, so I’m stitching the binding onto one of my flannel quilts. Your embroidery meditation is so true – and helpful! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteIt's a real sweet little project to work on.
