Design Wall Monday

The big reveal of the Quiltville mystery was on Friday and I enjoyed playing with my beautiful blocks on the design wall .

I put the sashing fabric I had chosen on the bottom right and hated that! Although it has all the colours of the fabrics, it's too much green. I auditioned a couple of other possible sashing fabrics and decided I liked my blocks best being side by side with no sashing (blocks on the bottom left). The diagonal chain that is formed by the purple QST blocks makes me happy.

  1. I agree the green is too much. The block colours are lovely.

  2. Thanks for sharing. So interesting how the green sashing dramatically changes the blocks, zaps the light from them. The blocks on the left are so luminous! Beautiful work! Good call!

  3. Yes, I think you are right. Sometimes we just have to go with Plan B

  4. I'm still auditioning sashing too! I'm letting it simmer for a couple of weeks before I decide.

  5. I like your design and I love when alternate blocks create a chain block throughout the quilt...Agree don't like the green!

  6. I also agree with your choice of sashing or no sashing. Did you get the large amount of snow over the weekend? Crazy photos from the Kawarthas.

  7. Using a sashing color(s) from your background fabric(s) would still give you the advantage of less bulky seams without distracting much from the purple diagonal lines. Perhaps add purple cornerstones?
