Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party!

Last night we turned the clocks back one hour because it is the end of Daylight Saving Time. Which means (in theory) that we all get an extra hour of sleep. In truth it feels like we only get an extra hour of darkness every evening!

The darkness and the cold weather here tells me it's the perfect time to do some hand quilting on my oldest UFO. Look at this lovely big blue star. Because I remove the basting pins as I quilt, I know this area is not done being quilted become there are still pins in the corners.

This red star beside the border looks like it's done, except for the border where the pins are. And also that top left neutral square needs a diagonal line, and then I'll get back to quilting that blue star.

Besides quilting, I have also enjoyed some outdoor time this week, raking leaves and going for walks. Here is my sweetest granddog playing in the leaf pile. Do you see the leaves stuck in his long ears? He also managed to get a big burr stuck on one ear and that was not fun.

I hope you are enjoying the fall weather where you are (or the spring weather if you are down under).
We love to see your hand stitching projects so please link up your blog post below and show us your slow progress.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. Fall back, all that means is I got up at 4 this morning instead of 5. Your quilt looks great, maybe this will be the winter you finish the quilting, happy stitching!

  2. I sympathize with Gretchen as I too woke up at 4 this morning and could not go back to sleep. It will be an effort to stay up until 10 tonight to try to reset my clock. That is a pretty quilt. I hope you enjoy working on it again. Love the pup photo!

  3. The big blue star is indeed lovely; as is the red star. Love the carpet of leaves and your sweet little granddog. I hate it when daylight savings ends and the darkness descends. Enjoy your quilting and those glorious colours of Fall.

  6. In Norway, we have also set the clock back an hour. It's nice to have an extra hour in the autumn. but I think it's worse in March when we set the clock forward and lose an hour. Beautiful stars to quilt. It quickly becomes some UFOs, and nice when you get inspiration to finish them. so beautiful dog is in the middle of the autumn leaves. Happy Sunday stitcing!

  9. I stayed up late Saturday night and then this morning I woke up around 7 like I normally do - I like it light in the morning when I get up - it doesn't matter to me in the evenings as it is usually chilly outside in the evening anyhow and I'm not outside as much in the evening in the winter anyhow.

  12. I wait until I wake up to set the clock back an hour that way I have an extra hour for the day, or so it seems. The weather here in Florida has turned quite cool after 3 days of rain, the cooler weather should be set now until spring.

  15. I'm searching for my info on hand quilting. I was fortunate enough to find all of my mother's handmade quilts, and 3 unfinished wool quilts. Suggestions, hints. It's difficult to find any books, etc. on hand quilting.
