Welcome to the weekly link up of hand stitched projects! Thank you for dropping by today and taking a look at what the stitchers are making.
Our latest "state of emergency and shutdown" in Ontario started on April 3rd and was extended this week until June 2nd. Our hospitals are overwhelmed past capacity with Covid patients due to more easily transmitted variants, and our vaccine rollout is very slow. So there is nothing else to do but stitch and go for walks to see what is blooming. Thankfully the weather has been good and we can soon plant gardens.
Today I will be trying to fix the knitting error I made last week. What will you be hand stitching today? Link up your blog post below and join the hand stitching party!
How disappointing your lockdown has been extended. Goodness, this COVID seems smarter than us humans, mutating into different variants. It is difficult to keep up with it. Hopefully your vaccine rollout will begin to be administered quicker. On a brighter note, how lovely that spring is flowering beautifully there and you are able to get out for walks in the sunshine. I can see you, in my mind's eye, sitting by the lake and sewing your binding onto your quilt.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your lockdown has been extended but having nice weather does help. That tree looks like a magnolia? We've had a lot of rain in the uk and a cold snap killed all the magnolia in the area, which is such a shame. Hope you have a nice day binding your quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you are still in lockdown. At least you have your stitching. Here in the US many people are acting like COVID has gone away now that they are vaccinated. Since it keeps mutating, I will still be wearing my mask and social distancing when going out even though Hubby and I are fully vaccinated. Spring and Summer at least make the lockdown a little easier with the ability to be outdoors. Enjoy your stitching. Thank you so much for hosting. Good luck with the knitting.
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness!! I am so sorry. As you may know, Texas is wide open, although I am still wearing my mask and distancing. IN the hospital, we have 6 cases, down from 122...but just got another positive yesterday. Our vaccination rate is approaching 60%. I pray you get a WHOLE BUNCH of people vaccinated, and quickly!!! Your binding is so very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSpring blooms give us hope in spite of the news and the worry. Have a wonderful Sunday, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful weather certainly makes our lockdown a little easier to take. I hope to do some stitching outside today too, after my patio pots are planted. Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to know, Kathy. Here the situation isn't easy either.
ReplyDeleteWe have some restrictions that has felt down not because the health situation has improved, but because the economy demanded it.
Many daily cases as well as lots of deaths.
This week Brazil surpassed the mark of the 434,000 lives lost to Covid and only 18% of the population received the first dose of the vaccine.
As long as everyone is not vaccinated, we will not be able to return to what we called normal. The vaccine sypply is scarce and it is difficult to see a light at the end of the tunnel. So let's be home and do what we love and makes our heart sing. Take care Kathy, and be safe.
I'm sorry the Covid situation is still rough there. I hope you can enjoy your outdoor stitching for the duration of your stay-at-home time.
ReplyDeleteour case level is very low in my area of Arkansas but a lot of the southern states the people are resistant to wearing a mask or getting a vaccine -- I am getting out more and fully vaccinated. I wish Canada was able to get more of the vaccine so you all could enjoy life more and get out and do your regular activities.
ReplyDeleteI finally finished all the binding I needed to do on several projects, plus the last two labels hand stitched to the backs. So, maybe now I can finally start that kitchen stitching!
ReplyDeleteI had not heard that your lockdown had been extended. Here in the US the CDC has done a complete U-turn on mask wearing and I'm afraid it will likely lead to another surge. I'm fully vaccinated so not as worried for myself, but I'll continue to be vigilant, since clearly no one else is going to protect me. At least with warmer weather you'll be able to stitch outside and enjoy the unfolding spring flowering.

Sending hugs your way.

Enjoy your outdoor stitching time!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your vaccine rollout has been slow--hopping it gets into more arms fast! Meanwhile, here in our state, things are opening back up and masks are not required between vaccinated people. I'm hoping this means our guild meetings can start again.
Happy Binding Stitching Kathy! Yes this continued lockdown sucks. I so long to be able to sit and read and research in a library again. But at least the weather is better and I've been so enjoying time in the garden.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI like the blue fabric on your quilt..so
pretty, here in Indiana, we aren't on lock
down, but I think they need to. I go for my
covid shot Thursday. Have a great day!
Sorry you are shut down again. We've been lucky, and are opening up much more now. Some states are fully open now. Too bad they can't get enough vaccines for Canada. Did you get your quilt finished and photo'd in time?
ReplyDeleteEeesh!! I'm sorry your lockdown is extended, but your seem to have a great attitude about it all. When we were on lockdown, we did the same as you: walks, stitching, reading. I pray it's soon back to normal!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy binding too, Kathy. I’m sorry Ontario is still suffering and the vaccine rollout is slow. Hopefully as your weather warms, it will help too.

Binding is my favorite hand stitching, too! So wonderful to savor that time when a quilt is so close to be finally finished!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, I can't wait for this hopefully final lock-down to finish. We can only hope and be careful. Take care.
