This week I am diligently working on my Grassy Creek mystery quilt. It has been a fun quilt to piece, and I have enjoyed it immensely. This is the rough layout according to the directions. It was nice but a bit too much red for me.
I replaced all the churn dash bars with gold fabrics and it was also nice but a bit too much gold for me.
The story of Goldilocks came to mind... too hard, too soft, too hot, too cold, ahhhh... just right!
I tried a combination of alternating red and gold and that was just right! I loved how that looked and couldn't wait to get sewing it together. It is my goal to sew the entire quilt top by next week's design wall. Lofty goal, but doable if I can stay focused.
Linking up to Design Wall Monday over at Small Quilts.
Your final color choices look "just right
ReplyDelete";))) Beautiful job on this BH mystery quilt...hugs, Julierose
Your Grassy Creek is looking great! I like your colors very much. Mine came out a little too bright.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the top two and liked them very much but your final choice is my favourite! You have a good eye for colour I think. Stay focused you can do this!
ReplyDeleteVery nice blocks colour arrangement. So now you have some Orphan blocks to be creative with!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to mix it up. Having fun going slow on mine. Still sewing parts. The flimsy doesn't have a deadline.
ReplyDeleteI like that you have put your personal imprint on the design. Please keep focused so we can see what it looks like finished!
ReplyDeleteNice work finding a solution that feels right to you. It is a fun and happy quilt!
ReplyDeleteI never do the "Bonnie Mystery" but I love to watch the reveal and see the difference the color choices make.... I learn a lot by seeing the different color ways and how much difference you see in each option. Yours is the first time I have seen such distinct visual setting that shows "2different" blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
I like your Goldilocks option! I've never done a Bonnie Mystery either, too many small parts and pieces for me, but love her creative brain and efforts!
ReplyDeleteLove how your version is coming along. You can get it done!
ReplyDeleteI liked each layout, but then when I got to the last one -- you were right -- it was the goldilocks layout. Now the fun of sewing it all together!
ReplyDeleteLovely progress, you put so much effort in the layout, looks great.
