Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! We hope you will pick up a needle and some threads, and join us as we relax and make some progress on our hand stitched treasures.

I have been binge watching Longmire on Netflix while stitching this week. I enjoy stories about ordinary people just trying to survive and do the right thing in difficult circumstances.
Longmire quilt season 5 episode 7
In one episode they showed a lovely quilt that caused me to stop stitching! Isn't this a beautiful courthouse steps with all the yummy plaids?!?! It's the perfect quilt for a man's bed in a log cabin. See the diagonal striped border? I got so distracted by the quilt, I had to rewatch part of the episode to keep up with the storyline!

Okay... back to my stitching...

I have been working on a tea towel in my Stitcher's Revolution series.

Here is the link to the full collection of patterns if you are looking for a new stitchery project (no affiliation to this company, and not a paid endorsement since this is an "ad free blog", I'm just a big fan!)
I am using 3 strands of embroidery floss for these towels designs. Fewer strands don't show up as well, and any more strands can easily become a tangled mess.

What are you hand stitching today?
Share your project with us below and let us cheer you on!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  5. That TV quilt is beautiful. I too sometimes get distracted by the quilts, crocheted and knitted items on the television. Your tea towel is looking great.

  6. We enjoyed Longmire. It's one of those that makes you sad when you've finished watching all the episodes.

  8. I forgot all about that show. I need to find that again. Recently I watched some Little House on the Prairie and there's a quilt that shows up .... and I did the same thing, had to rewind!

  9. I enjoyed Longmire too, up to the last few episodes when it just gets stupid. I do the same thing when I see an interesting quilt on a TV show, LOL, and have to go back and catch up on the story. I finished up some hand work on my Vintage Christmas blocks and will show those soon and link up.

  10. Yes, a lovely quilt! We just watched the most recent (also to be the last) season of Longmire. Another lovely, simple, black and red quilt that shows up in the last two shows. Watch for it!:)

  12. I loved Walt! A great show and I almost said something else before realizing I might spoil the ending! I missed that quilt maybe because I was probably stitching at the time. It is a beauty and would totally coordinate with my wooden house. Thanks for sharing, Kathy.

  13. Oh that is a gorgeous quilt in the show! I would have been distracted with it also. I may not have noticed the diagonal border. Perfect for a man's quilt in a cabin. I LOVE plaids!

  16. Any time I see a quilt in a movie or tv series I take a good look too! We love Longmire and have watched it through many times. I really like how they point out the injustices to many different peoples who live in these United States, showing their struggles and frustrations with how unequal we treat others even here, where we are supposed to be equals... One particular quilt that I love is in The Tall Men in possession of the young lady. Hand applique large baskets. It is hard to get a good look at it in the movie, as a whole. Many movies like old westerns, have quilts from the completely wrong era.
