It's a steep learning curve and a non-intuitive system. I am getting better at it and although it takes way longer than the old one, I am hoping that with practice, the frustration and time investment will decrease.
I made up this sarcastic message from the Blogger:
"Dear faithful bloggers:
We are giving you many new options you don't want and won't use, and we're going to make the entire system harder to figure out, but we're not going to tell you how to do any of it. Good luck with that.
Sincerely,
The Blogger Team"

I have learned some tips and tricks from other bloggers but mostly it's a matter of navigating new screens and learning how to use new icons. And oh my... the new photo posting challenges!
Below is my attempt to learn about the new table feature where you can set many photos into a grid style. Photo posting is a whole new world!
The old blogger dashboard is on the left (note the warning about the system change in the yellow bar across the top) and the new dashboard on the right. Unfortunate changes.
If you don't get all the sizing and alignment set correctly, it will extend the grid to post right over top of the text in right hand side bar, but you won't know that unless you "preview" the post!! LOL (you just have to laugh because what else can you do?!?!)
Anyway, from blogger frustrations to quilt studio frustrations...
I am sewing the blocks for the last border of the Unity quilt and realized I sewed some of the flying geese with opposite colour placement.
The pink should always be on the same side of the fling gees units. UGH. It's way too many pieces to fix, so unfortunately these blocks are staying like this.
And on we go...
Thank you about the warning and the tips, I'm afraid that I have been putting my head in the sand and have just been ignoring the new blogger hoping it would go away perhaps haha, seriously though writing a blog post is time consuming and frustrating at the best of times do we really need more agro, I fear many bloggers may think it's not worth the trouble and just stop blogging like many of my blogging friends have done already, time will tell. I will take your advice after my next post which is almost ready to publish I will try the new blogger fingers crossed I can suss it. Your sewing looks lovely to me I wish I had the talent to creat something as beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips. I haven't tried the new system yet. Maybe today. I love your blocks. They look great. I'm sure they will work fine in your quilt.
ReplyDeleteNo one would know your flying geese mistake if you hadn't pointed it out...especially since you have an equal number of both. I agree with your Blogger frustrations. I hate having to start a post and then have to think about where everything is and how it works. I didn't think the old Blogger needed improvement. In fact, I think this new version is more complicated.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when we all first started blogging where we had to figure it out. My 4 year old grand son is a whiz on his iPad because he just keeps pressing buttons until things happen. I cannot believe how fast he is. I wonder if there is a dictate option coming soon where we just speak into the program and it writes it up without needing spellcheck?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe your day can be described as off like "a terd of hurtles!"
ReplyDeleteHope the rest of your day was better, a little birdie says it was your birthday on Wednesday. Hope you had a great day!We will celebrate soon.
I am so glad I do not have blogger!
ReplyDeleteOnce you get used to it, the only frustration is waiting FOREVER for the photos to upload!! That thing with the sizing and overwriting the sidebar? That's always been a thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat about leaving that announcement on the Feedback to give them an idea of what we all think about this new format. There are more things that needs checking out, but I've been able to navigate through what I need to do to post.
ReplyDeleteI was so focused on the turtle centres I didn't even notice the colours in the flying geese. They are so cute. Good tactic on your part.
ReplyDeletebeen using it for a few days
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. I'm finding it a little tricky to use too. I just went in to write a new blog post and it took a while to figure out where everything was.
ReplyDeleteoh my, blogging seems to become a challenge. Thank you for the info. Your border star blocks look just fine.
ReplyDeleteThose stars are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBlogging in new blogger is ok for me. I see no difference to be honest. maybe it's the way I do it???
I hear you on the Blogger challenges but I haven't tried anything fancy so far, ha ha. I think your stars look terrific just as they are!
ReplyDeleteLol on the sarcastic note from blogger. So true. I tried new blogger and quickly went back to legacy version. If only they would give a tutorial. I’ll try again this Sunday.
ReplyDelete??? I wrote a post yesterday and had no issues - uh oh, wonder what's happening now? 8-((( Options and changes are never made for OUR ease of use always some geeky reasons, I believe. I don't need any more stresses.
ReplyDeleteWell, with your flying geese... at least you were consistent! That means you can just make a Design Modification and let people think you did it that way on purpose. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for Blogger... ugh. I haven't been keeping up my blog, but there are some jewels there from the past. Since the beginning of the year I've had to make THREE new websites on WordPress and it's a bit of a 'joy', too.
I guess I have options - learn new Blogger or reinvent the wheel and move stuff to WordPress. I'm not thrilled with either choice.
I think this is where I say, "Get off my lawn!"
Like your Stars - and no one will know! Pretty
ReplyDeleteAs of this morning, my blog is still set to the old style. I'm hoping that they forget about updating my blog (yea, I know, not going to happen). I haven't had time to mess with the new parts yet. Too much going on here.
