It's Sunday - time for some rest and relaxation. It's the last Sunday before Christmas and everyone is working on frantic preparations, and folks are bordering on nervous breakdowns at the mall, but I encourage you to take even a few moments to slow down and enjoy some hand stitching today. I promise you it will help you to calm down, think more clearly, and be more efficient in completely all the tasks on your to-do list.
This week I have enjoyed working on some projects to give as Christmas gifts, and can't show them on my blog yet, so I want to show you this photo of my friend Debbie's new embroidery floss storage system.
She is hand stitching the Crabapple Hill Snow Globes BOM, and look how she is winding the floss colours on clothes pins. See how she is writing the colour number on the end? And how she is pinching the end of the floss in the clothes pin so it doesn't unravel... genius idea and so darn cute!
What are you hand stitching today? Are you finishing up some gifts for Christmas? Enjoy the countdown to finishes and link up your blog post below so we can peek in at what you're doing!
The clothespins are a neat idea! Have a peaceful week, blessings!
ReplyDeleteClever floss storage. Looking forward to seeing your completed Christmas gift projects.
ReplyDeleteThat's a brilliant idea when there is a lot of floss. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have only been working on projects by hand for a few years now, but every little tip (even a super simple one) goes a long way. Have a great holiday season. I know the recipients of your handmade gifts will love and cherish them for the years to come.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much time I can dedicate to down--slow stitching--time today, but I'm determined to spend at least a small window doing just that! Thanks for your encouragement, Kathy! Enjoy your stitching today! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some slow stitching done today! I use pegs to showcase all my wool. It's a great way of putting colours together or even just to gaze at all the super colours I've collected over the years!
ReplyDeleteI plan to be fairly slow today despite heading to my MIL's for her Christmas reveals. There will be sewing by hand and machine today... and knitting and crochet! Good luck on your finishes and Have a Merry Christmas. Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful linkup for so many years.
ReplyDeleteLove the clothespin tip! What a fun and great way to store floss!
ReplyDeletemy daughter does floss like that with clothespins. Have a Merry Christmas and we would all do well if everyone just stopped and took a deep breath and got off the crazy train
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cute, but practical idea! Hope you can slow down and stitch some today. I still have gifts to wrap, a sick husband to take to urgent care. Maybe this afternoon, I'll have time to smooth out the rough edges with some stitching time.
ReplyDeleteLove the clothespin idea. Lucy at Attic 24 does the same for her wool samples and it looks adorable. I've looked at those Snow Globes so often...beautiful to stitch, I'm sure. Sadly my hand stitching will not be calming today as I have to get it done by the big day. Always say I won't do this to myself!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea for the clothes pins. I avoid the mall at all costs. Thankfully I just need to finish assembling a mug rug and I am done, and plan to spend my night tonight working on Buhl-Bushong blocks. My daughters and sister and I plan to go see Cats this afternoon! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the thread and now I am poorer because I just could not pass up the sale of this Snow Globe pattern! I love Cranapple! Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing your Xmas presents next time!
ReplyDeleteLast knitted gift finished last night. So now it is just cooking and cleaning with some packing after Christmas. Merry Christmas my friend and Happiest of new year ahead!!
ReplyDeletep.s. there's an envelope headed your way....enjoy!!
I have already done some stitching first thing and feel calm as I start the rest of my day. I am done with all shopping and creating and now just have the wrapping left to go. The clothespin idea looks pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThan you so much Kathy, for hosting the Linky Slow Stitching Party each week. I love to visit to see what everyone is up to, and it's nice to add my own progress when I have something to show. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and to all the other Slow Sunday Stitchers as well.
