Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly link up for hand stitchers! I hope you will make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, and visit the links below for some creative inspiration.

Do you have a favourite hand stitched Christmas decoration that you get out every year to enjoy again? This is my most treasured cross stitch that I made in 1992. It has symbolic meaning for me and every year when I pull it out of the box of Christmas decorations I am delighted to see it again. So many memories are stitched into our projects.

I am putting the final stitches into the binding for a gift that should go in the mail asap.
Are you working on Christmas gifts today?

Link up your blog or instagram post and share what you are hand stitching!

  3. I have lots of hand mades that come out at Christmas but none I can date back to 1992! But I do have an advent calendar that was made by my step mum for the children and probably is 25+ years old and it comes out every year and I love it. Hope you get your binding finished and the gift in the post soon.

  4. Your cross-stitched angel is lovely, Kathy! I have two cross-stitched Christmas ornaments I probably made in the late 80s or early 90s - one for each of my boys - I still get them out each year, too. Enjoy a relaxing Sunday and thanks for hosting this link-up every week for us!

  5. I have little quilts that I put on tables and beside the bed. I don't have any ornaments or special wall hangings yet. Yes, our love is stitched into our projects for sure.

  7. I finished my binding ... I'm happy to help with yours!! :) I have a cross stitched gingerman, circa 1992ish, that comes out every year, even though something got on him and he's a little dingy. But I adore the handcrafted ornaments on my tree -- they're so special!! :)

  10. I no longer put up a tree and the thing I miss the most is seeing all my favorite ornaments. I have table top trees and a few smaller ornaments are used on those, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to display some of the others. I also have a cross-stitched Christmas tree (ornament sized) somewhere upstairs. It never got framed which is crazy because I think all it needs is to be put in a small embroidery hoop. I'll have to look for it. Lots of posters today.

  11. I make a handmade ornament for each of my kids every year. My oldest daughter is 24 and I love pulling out the very first ornament I ever made for her - it's cross stitched. That brings back so many memories for me.

  12. I love revisiting the handmade ornaments I have fashioned each year as it is akin to journeying down memory lane that is filled with lovely reminiscences. Your cross stitch is beautiful.
