I don't have much of a stitching update to show, since I'm still slowly hand quilting my Friendship Album sampler.But I wanted to share some hand made glass treasures that I found on a recent trip to Montreal.

I thought I would spend time hand stitching but I became captured by the amazing tile work I found. Imagine these artists picking up every little piece of tile (like we do scraps of fabric or bits of wool or beads) and placing it into the mosaic in just the right place to create the image. It fascinated me.
And now it's back to reality and my own hand work project. There will be no glass work for me, just my needles and thread!So what are you hand stitching today?

Pretty colors in Friendship Album block. The glass sculpture must be famous. I'd be a wreck handling it. Artistic mosaics. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteI have a fabric mosaic I need to work on today... your mosaic tile artworks are truly inspirational.... as is that sun... how can they put all those pieces in just 134 boxes for storage too!!! And then remember how to put them all back as the author of the artwork intended!!!!

Loved seeing Chihuly's The Sun. I have seen many of his installations around the country - usually in gardens. This single piece draws focus in a different way.
ReplyDeleteI have a crazy artist cousin in Poland who makes these things. He makes stain glass windows for churches in the country.

ReplyDeleteMy only handwork this week is putting hanging sleeves on two quilts, and working on putting little labels on a couple of table runners for the fair. The Sun looks like a Chihuly piece.

ReplyDeleteThe glass sun is very beautiful as are the mosaics! Isn't it a shame the artist is unknown. It does make me realise how important it is to label my quilts.
