I have been feeling quite under the weather the past week and I'm blaming my poor health for a flare up of another chronic condition ... the dreaded "startitis"!
This is a chronic, progressive illness which attacks creative people and causes them to randomly start too many new projects. It's just like a terrible addiction and the sufferer has no control over their starting behaviour.
I think I am starting 4 new quilts!
1) Kevin is hosting a scrappy summer mystery using up stash. So of course I have to start that one! I'm using up old batik stash, plus a couple of new fabrics added in for some sparkle.
One of the great things about this quilt is that you can use any size of square you want. I am using a 2" square.
2) Cheryl is sharing her Mosaic Mystery running from July to April next year. I'm thinking of a pink/teal/brown combination.
3) Bonnie Hunter announced the new Leader/Ender Challenge and the 4" block size is perfect for sewing up small scraps. So I HAD to start that one.
4) And the Fat Quarter Shop is posting a Christmas in July mystery table topper quilt called Merry Mini Quilt. The first block pattern called Pointsettia is here.
Maybe I need some kind of immunization, or intervention or something else, like say...
a 15 quilt store July Shop Hop to get this Startitis out of my system?!? *wink*
Anyone else noticing recent symptoms of Startitis?!?
Hmm, I haven't suffered startitis lately.....until reading your post!!! 😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteI've been seriously considering joining in on most of those same QALs. Startitis must be contagious!
ReplyDeleteI noticed Startitis outbreaks in Ohio too due to heat and humidity! I have started #1 in not one, but two quilts in two different sizes, I am going to have a breakout in #2 when the next clue comes out (I haven't figured out what colors I'm doing yet unless it's light, medium, and dark blues and neutrals). I don't have #3 because I'm using #1 and #2 as leader/enders right now. I haven't seen the symptoms of #4, but thanks to your post, I'm going there after I hit reply. Geez.
ReplyDeleteBoy, can I identify with Startitis! Cute post!
ReplyDeleteBe glad you resisted the 100 blocks in 100 days, LOL!!! There is hope yet. On a similar subject, I'm having quilter's block and am stuck in the stand-and-stare phase of quilting a very large top. I think startitis is a much better thing than not being able to go forward, I am just wasting time.
ReplyDeleteYep Startitis is a thing. I'm "suffering" from a bad case of it myself.
ReplyDeleteI've successfully fought off all of the aforementioned projects, but Sarah's 12 days of Christmas is coming next week, so I'd better gte busy finishing up some loose ends.
ReplyDeletePat
Well, you have a partner in this one. I am also going to do 2 of the 4 - will check out Kevin! Maybe this will be good way to get me on the long arm - waiting for each week's/month new block! Another Startitis Quilter
ReplyDeleteYes, tis the Season for that ailment. Leader and Enders are so cute, but tiny.
ReplyDeleteHave fun, get better quick!
All of these and so much more. I think this startitis is catching!
ReplyDeleteOh, you've got it BAD! I've heard there's no cure, you just have to live with it :)
ReplyDeleteUgh!! I'm having some of those same symptoms. It must be contagious!
ReplyDeleteI started something new this week, too. I have to say that mine is supposed to be a completed quilt top by early Dec, since it is using the striped charm squares from my little guilds Left-Right-Center game last December. I was gifted the charms from the lady who won them (along with the challenge).
ReplyDeleteDespite being behind in pretty much everything I've had quite a bit of startitis myself. I'm doing the mosaic mystery , I've already started the summer sampler I'm way behind on it but not concerned and I'm doing a Jelly Roll quilt along with Busy hands quilts....also been under the weather....maybe it's affecting our judgement.
ReplyDeleteThink I suffer from the same illness. Thanks for the links. I'll take a look.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this post! I am so glad to finally put a name to my illness! Starting projects is the absolute BEST kind of quilting fun! (I sorta' don't mind having this affliction, you know??) *smiles*
ReplyDeleteAnother summer of planning the next guild year's program...yup startitis is definitely floating around!!!
ReplyDeleteStartitis must be contagious (I'm sure it's spread via blog reading). I've got a case of it too, though mine isn't as severe as yours. Hopefully you'll be in full recovery by August. Though I predict we'll see a flare up right after Thanksgiving this year.
