These are the blocks for the backing of my Tula Pineapple quilt. It's such a bright fun quilt, and I wanted to use up all the leftovers on the back.
backing blocks
The blocks on the left are the cut off pieces from the pineapple corners, sewn together in groups of 4 to make the pinwheel blocks. They were going to become their own baby quilt, but then I got the idea to put them into the pineapple quilt backing to make a double sided quilt. The HST blocks in the centre (that look like flying geese) were given to me by my friend Dorothy left over from one of her projects. She asked me "Can you use these"? YES! On the right are the Missouri Star Company Wacky Web blocks made using their diamond template and foundation papers. I have a stack of rectangles and lots of the background fabric, so now I will start to put the blocks together like a big puzzle. There is no wrong way to do this, so I'm just going to start! Hop over to Small Quilts to check out the other design wall posts.
Can't wait to see this backing done. I usually shy away from pieced backs but they are a great way to use up those pieces, chunks and fabrics you wonder why you bought!!
I love all the colorful blocks, but wonder how difficult quilting this pieced backing combined with the pineapple block front will be. That's a lot of seams to sew through or around. Pat
Great way to use up the Tula Scraps. So colorful. I see a few of the tuny stars you make in there. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to be able to look at those bright happy blocks on your design wall. They just make me smile!
