It's so fun making lots of little pieces for blocks that will eventually become a quilt and I have no idea how it will turn out. It's the most fun that a quilter who is somewhat risk-averse can have!
Here are some of my blocks on the design wall ... flying geese are everywhere! Instead of using coral/melon colours for this step, I am using gold/brown paper bag, and loving it!
There are usually so many little pieces to keep track of in a Quiltville mystery and here is my idea to stay organized.

Hop over to these link ups: Quiltville step #2 and Sew Fresh Quilts.
I've been tempted to join this year's mystery but I'll wait to see the finished project. You're doing a good job keeping up with posting everyday and your posts are interesting too.
ReplyDeleteI like your colors for the geese.
ReplyDeleteThese containers are really handy. I have several of them full of different projects.
ReplyDeleteI love your geese! You are absolutely right -- there are a LOT of pieces in these quilts! I am even making a half size quilt and I'm still making piles and piles of units!
ReplyDeleteKathy, much like you, I love the game and productivity of a mystery quilt. Last year I made three online MQs. BH’s En Provence, Pat Sloan’s Children’s Library (how could I not as I am a retired teacher librarian) and Confessions of a Fabricholic Santa’s trip. So thankful that I have the time to play with fabric. Happy Quilting!
ReplyDeleteLove the geese... I have yet to make one! Maybe I can sneak a few in today. I repurposed a 12 inch box to keep track of mine this year. So fun that you have that same container each year - I guess you really do need to get them done each year so you get the container back!
ReplyDeleteooooooOOO! Pretty! I like all the variety of colors I am seeing...yes, bring on step 3!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! I too am waiting in the wings, but determined to continue my work on MM - NOW, maybe later. My friend Jaydee is doing the quilt and keeping track of her time....... Interesting. I am such the perfectionist that I draw a diagional line on all of the squares..... Yikes 400? I try to eyeball by then it is ripper time. You are doing a great job on yours and your daily posts!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing your progress. I have to admit, I wouldn't be humming or singing while making flying geese; they are not a favorite of mine (although I love the look of them). Can't wait to see the next step!
ReplyDeleteFlying geese ate one of my favorites. Thank you for popping in to visit my blog and posting a comment. I love making new items from thrifted fabric.
ReplyDeleteOh, you crack me up, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThe thought of doing all those geese at this time of the year does not make me want to sing--more like scream!! LOL
That is why I watch you do mysteries and I plod along with my snail's pace on my usual projects.
Love your warm colors.
I really like your colour scheme. I have pretty much caved in and I think I am just about ready to join in with the mystery.
ReplyDeleteNice Toasty Browns. Foggy weather makes me want to sing something but it isn't that song... Singing and Stitchin' - go Kathy GO!
ReplyDeleteI'm making the pieces in the clues but making them for my UFOs instead and still having fun. No spinach containers here, though. I grow my own in the spring/summer and just don't eat it in winter. And besides I'm not that organized. I always have to lose a few pieces so I can find them years later and have some surprise orphan blocks to work with.
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you are also taking part in this mystery. I'm half way through the flying geese today. Hopefully I will have a complete flock by Friday.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors on your geese!
ReplyDeleteI'm singing along with you!
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics are awesome. I’m liking that gold. I can’t wait to see what we’re sewing these into!
ReplyDeleteLove your color palette for this mystery. Happy stitching. Clue 3 comes out tomorrow!
ReplyDeletePretty pretty!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what's next in this mystery. I'm only halfway done with my geese, but I figure I can easily catch up.
there is something magical about lining all the pieces up in a container
