A Good Friend!

Well thank goodness for Cynthia! She read Monday's blog post showing my Emerald Stars quilt and spotted one errant block. That is a good friend who takes the time to email you and say... um, don't know if you noticed but there is a component in one of the stars that is turned?
For real?
I look again at the photo and sure enough, there it is! I have looked at this quilt sooooo many times while piecing it, while photographing it, and while blogging about it. Why didn't I see it before?!?!

Sometimes people put in one "humility" block and rumour has it that maybe it is an amish tradition to do this on purpose (read about it here). I make enough mistakes accidentally and do not want to add another one on purpose!
This is definitely not that!

Sometimes we are just blind to reality, and can't see what is right in front of our face! It takes a good friend to be brave and to tell you the truth! So a huge thank you to Cynthia for giving me a chance to fix that mistake, because I would have really felt disappointed with myself if it was quilted right into the finished quilt.
So now... the mistake is corrected and border #1 is added.
Kevin and I have a deal that I will add one border a day.
I didn't specify how many days will be between the border additions!  *snort*

  1. It's so easy to get one piece turned. I did that the first time I put En Provence up on the wall to start assembly. Thankfully I caught the error in a photo I posted. Sometimes it just takes that small shift in perspective to catch those mistakes. Glad your friend caught that misplacement.

  2. I didn't notice it and I still didn't see until you showed the close-up. :) I found a turned block in my Orca Bay mystery quilt but I didn't notice it until a few years after the quilt was finished!

  3. Yay Cynthia good catch. Glad Kathy think so too!! I agree we have many oops in our quilts we don't need one that we can see and can correct before quilting. I would have changed it too!!

  4. good catch! I rarely notice these kinds of mistakes until someone points them out. Sometimes I will notice when I take a photo and look it over on the computer screen

  5. LOL, there may be a lot of days between, so funny this morning, thanks for the laugh!! I have the pattern, but haven't even pulled any fabrics for it as I have been covered up with Autumn Jubilee.

  8. We can stare at a quilt for days and not see something that is wrong. Then when it's pointed out...we place a palm to forehead...so obvious! It is nice to have friends that take the time to point it out!

  10. I only caught it because this is quickly becoming one of the best quilts I have seen for a while now. I was studying it closely :)

It is going to be amazing!

  11. The turned piece was not evident to me, either. I just was admiring all the intricate piecing in the quilt top. Very well sewn and beautiful colors!!

  12. Wow! I didn't notice it at all! Sometimes a fresh set of eye's can see what we miss. Glad you got it fixed so it doesn't bug you after you finish your quilt.

  13. It took me awhile to find it. Don't you just hate it when that happens. Nice save.

  14. Funny how you can look at something and someone else will notice the mistake. My quilt shop is doing a 6 blocks per month and the owner has the finished quilt all done up on the wall. One day I was sitting there and I found a mistake

  15. I really had to look for it after you pointed it out. It would bug me too if I had done it.
