Scrappy Saturday

Blue is the colour for July over at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge
The Omigosh project saw some scrappy attention this week. I finished 3 alternate shoofly blocks and 1 more double 9 patch block. These blocks use up my smallest 1" scraps. These are fiddly blocks and take just as long as a full size block to make (and sometimes longer if the seam ripper needs to be involved!)

Here's the full blue block collection. Many more shoofly blocks are needed but 3 is a good start!

This is a multi-year (maybe multi-decade project!) and I just sew a few blocks here and there when I have collected enough tiny scraps.

  1. I had thought at one time to make the OMG quilt but never have. I think it is one of those like you say - takes a long time to make - and yes tiny blocks can take longer than big blocks at times.

  5. Looking good! I have admired this quilt at various quilt shows. I totally understand why it takes so long to make all of the blocks!

  6. Best things are free and usually take a long time coming. It will be a precious quilt once done. ;^)

  10. Those are looking good! Something I love about scrappy quilts are the variety of background fabrics that can be used in the same quilt. It adds such interest!

  11. You have had some wonderful finishes while I have been away. Absolutely love the bear quilt. And the little mini in your last post is sweet.
These OMG blocks are so adorable. This is a quilt I have long admired, but never felt I would have the patience to make. That is something about your quilting that always impresses me--your patience with long term projects. And your results are so worth it!

  17. That's a real sign of patience to be able to sew along for several years until it is finished. Your blocks are looking good.

  18. I love this so much! Your blocks are terrific!
I saw an Omigosh at a quilt show several years ago, and knew in that moment that there was a 99% chance that I'd make one someday. (Well, a 99% chance that I'll *start* one someday, anyway...)

  21. I think your process for working on the OMG quilt is a good one! Even though your progress isn't speedy, it's fun to see things take shape over time.
