Scrappy Saturday
The teal Mad City Mama block is finally finished. This is a pattern in Bonnie Hunter's book Adventures with Leader and Enders. This block involves a lot of scrap taming since it uses over 100 squares, 20 strips and 12 light triangle scraps.
And here are the 7 blocks I've made for this project so far on the design wall. I notice that I forgot the light triangle corners in the orange block! I'll have to get the seam ripper out and insert those because I do like the definition that those triangles provide in the centre of the block.
The next colour for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is red, and of course this project does need a red block for sure.
To see what the RSC quilters are making today, hop over to the weekly link up.
I love these blocks! I agree that the triangles add a wonderful highlight to the center of the block.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The orange one does need the star points. It is an effective block
ReplyDeleteIncredible blocks. It would be easy to lose track of some little details (like triangles), there is so much color saturation!
ReplyDeleteyour blocks look so good, certainly you have a variety of fabrics in each one. I am doing crazy blocks it is the first time I have taken part but mine are only 6"
ReplyDeleteThose little light triangles really do add definition in the middle of the blocks, so worth the effort to redo the orange one, I think. This is such a lovely block.
ReplyDeleteMy word! Those blocks are awesome!!!!!!! (agree that the orange MUST be changed)
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are just so darn cool -- lots of pieces but doing these one color/one month at a time might keep it from being overwhelming. Scrappy quilts ARE the best!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's fun to see all the blocks together! Hope it does not take too long to fix the orange one. I am looking forward to seeing the next block.
ReplyDeleteI like your version of this block so much better than Bonnie's. Hers are so chaotic, but your single color focus gices the blocks better definition. Bravo for your choice.

Great idea to do these blocks as a RSC project. The finished Quilt will be super.
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are so amazing! What a lot of pieces and work involved. A red one is definitely the next one needed!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I have the book, Adventures with Leaders and Enders". Will have to look at Mad City mama! The quilt I am currently working on is the double irish chain, which is at the end of the book.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be so great - and 100 pieces - WOW! Its awesome
ReplyDeleteYou know of all the Color Scrap Blocks I have seen the past couple of years I think I like this one the best.... Just that touch of light in the wings on the middle of the block add soooooo much!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome block and you have just the right blend of fabrics for them! The finish will be gorgeous
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks. Wish they were mine.......
ReplyDeleteSEW many scraps in each block!!
ReplyDeletethese blocks look great!
ReplyDeleteThose are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing and you always amaze me working with such teeny tiny pieces!
ReplyDeleteSEW Scrappy! Yes, Go back and add those triangles!
ReplyDeleteI just love the look of those Mad City Mama blocks. What a great way to use up the scraps.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of quilting dedication, Kathy! It's going to be stunning when finished!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are looking great. Yes, The orange needs a little fix up.
ReplyDeleteThat's a new and interesting block design to me. I really like those blocks! It will be great to see when it is a whole quilt too, with all the colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks! They do look like great scrap magnets too.
