One Step Forward, Three Steps Back

This week I am going on an adventure to visit the Oxford Quilter's Guild in Ingersoll. They have so many quilters in their region that they have an evening meeting AND a daytime meeting, so I'll be doing two trunk shows for them. My quilts are looking forward to an airing, and I am looking forward to a road trip, seeing old quilting friends and making new ones.

I wanted to take along my En Provence mystery quilt top to show them, so I pushed myself to try to get this thing sewn together.
We all know what happens when you rush!!
Of course I sewed the top two rows together along the wrong seam.
Sheesh.
Now I have to unsew. I guess that will be the hand work project that I bring on my trip!

  2. Have fun with your trunk show! A good friend of mine presented her first ever trunk show, maybe two years ago, at that guild and asked me to come along for moral support. I think it's held in the same building I'll be visiting this coming weekend for another friend's Fibre Arts exhibit that starts there on Sunday.

  3. I feel your pain--I just did a big boo boo on my Celtic Solstice top in an effort to get a speedy finish--now I'm paying the price!

  4. Or you could show them what not to do. :) I sewed my final border on the wrong side so I know how that feels when you discover your mistake. At least unsewing is something we are good at. Have fun with your trunk show!

  5. I hate it when that happens - I have done it more than once! and usually when I am really trying to get something finished is when I make the mistakes.

  6. Ugh. I did that the other night with a small 8" block. I just wanted to finish it before bed. I was so proud of myself. Then I looked at it and I had sewn the last row on upside down. Argh. Rip, rip, rip. Stayed up a little later and got her done, right this time! Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com

  7. Oh, what a disappointment (is that putting it mildly?)!
I wish you well with your presentations!

  8. I used to belong to two different guilds that had both a morning and an evening guild meeting. I attended both meetings for one of the guilds. Interesting that there are other guilds that have dual meetings.

  9. Oh noo! I am behind on my self-imposed deadline for EP too. But, I think I'm in good shape for Bonnie's link up next week. Have a great trip!

  10. Have fun with the quilt guild. What a pain with the unsewing. We've all done that. The guild members will understand.

  11. I sewed two rows together upside done in two of the Bonnie Hunter blocks even though I had them carefully laid out first. I've been sewing the border pieces to each individual block and then will sew the whole thing together, but I had to stop to get ready for our 8 week trip to FL, so my finish will be postponed. Hope the trunk show went well.
