Progress has been made and I have completely finished the top left corner. That was a lot of work filling in the setting blocks on the edges and sewing the diagonal rows together.

Scrappy Saturday Spools #2
Progress has been made and I have completely finished the top left corner. That was a lot of work filling in the setting blocks on the edges and sewing the diagonal rows together.

I'm currently sewing together an "on point" quilt. I'm just past the halfway point, which feels good! Yours is looking fantastic!

ReplyDeleteThis quilt is going to look amazing, and you are going to be so happy that you pinned all those seams. I look as pins as my friends. They keep me in line. Haha.
ReplyDeletePins can be annoying but it takes less time to pin then to take apart the rows. Blessings!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and happy quilt! I don't like long seams with lots of matching either but the end result is always worth all of the effort!

ReplyDeleteIt is not the most fun stage, but it does get you so much closer to having a finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat is looking great! I too have a problem with this stage... I have started sewing in 'blocks' and it is easier... but not with this type of setting. Just think of the beautiful quilt top you will have at the end for hand stitching.
ReplyDeleteI too procrastinate at sewing rows together. At first, it is fun but the bigger things get, the more it is to hold and move around. I have tried working in sections and that helps but the whole thing comes to a point where you just have to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteChain piecing and butted seams is always easier for me - no pins and for me its more precise. I love how this simple block looks so complex when joined.
ReplyDeleteI am a "pinner", but it does take a long time.
ReplyDeleteIt is a hassle for sure but your progress is steady! I always start pinning from the far end of the seam I'm working on, so when I put the last pin in, it is ready to go under the needle immediately without more rearranging all the bulk.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hear you about pins! I skip the pinning whenever it's possible, but as you say some quilts do need it. Sigh. It will be worth it in the end. I still think this is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on a quilt project that needs pins galore and I have lost my interest in it because of that. It is supposed to just have the seams lock together and zip along, but none of the seams line up then. Your project is beautiful. I can't wait to see it completed.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh! I pin everything! I'm so awkward when I sew seams for some reason, and if I don't pin them, nothing matches!

Great progress, Kathy. It can be hard to motivate myself to sew rows and then put them together--hence the stacks of finished blocks in my sewing room. : )

I feel the same way about long seams-- yucky!! Today I was sewing a long seam and planned to take a break after it. I sewed the entire thing with no bobbin thread! Argh!!!
