Quiltville Mystery

As my blog followers know, I am a huge Bonnie Hunter fan and look forward to sewing her annual mystery quilt. I have sewn almost every mystery quilt pattern she has written and you can read more about those quilts here and here.
For the past few years the mystery event has started on the American Thanksgiving weekend in November.
I really wanted to have my 2015 Allietare mystery blocks together by the time the new mystery starts. I got the blocks out of the UFO closet and started sewing them together in pairs.
Allietare is another on point layout and I've already been struggling with my Circa quilt layout this week, so I don't want to start working on this actual layout until Circa is off the design wall. Also I didn't make the setting blocks as the pattern outlined, so I will have to figure that out. But for now I'm at least making a bit of progress and that feels great!

  1. I know what you mean..I made 2 Allietare quilts. One for my BIL. I still have to make the scalloped border for mine. I've been putting it off though. Good luck on yours! Your blocks look wonderful.

  2. Come on Kathy! She will announce the next one within days. I am still on the fence whether I will do it this year as I don't know if I can commit the time, but they are always hard to resist.

  3. You can do it Kathy! I finally got mine quilted and bound. Just in time for the color card reveal that is eminent. Maybe even today, she has been teasing us about a big surprise on Facebook. Can't sleep. 3:06 am in the Pacific Northwest. I don't want to miss her big news today.

  4. I have kept a PDF of the instructions, let me know what info you need for the setting triangles. Mine is downsized but on my to-do list this quarter, and I only finished Grand illusion last month.

  5. It should go together pretty quickly. I'm coming up on the third corner while binding my version. Now if I could just finish the Celtic one, I'd be all caught up.

  6. I want to get mine quilted before the next one starts. I can seldom keep up with the QAL schedule during the holidays so I work on mine throughout the year.

  7. keep going at it!
I made a mini version of this one but every time I linked up each week she removed the link because I didn't link to that specific post but rather her blog instead (I schedule my posts ahead of time) so....I don't think I'll join this time

  8. I was reading this and admiring those of you who keep up with the Bonnie Hunter mysteries. I haven't attempted to keep up since my partially finished Easy Street went in the UFO closet. : )
This will be a pretty one when you have it all put together!

  9. I have two tops from her mysteries and each is only 1/4th of what she said to make, but I love them. It's just a hard time of the year for me to be working on these. Yours will be beautiful.

  10. My allietare is done. I have made a couple of her mysterys and would like to do Celtic Solstice. Not sure if I am joining this year or not. Heard rumors of no blue....could I possibly do a quilt with no blue ...not sure!

  11. Allietare was my first Bonnie Mystery, and I really enjoyed playing! I got all my blocks sewn together, and the borders cut but not stitched on, so I'm counting mine as a 'finish'. (Close enough for me!)
I haven't decided if I'll do this year's mystery or not, but currently I'm leaning that way...

  12. I haven't done a BH mystery in a few years (just couldn't fit it in the schedule) - maybe this year. Baby steps - it will have it's chance to shine as a finish when it is the right time.
