I am trying so hard to resist starting new projects. And I find it somehow gratifying to make note of the times I am able to resist -just say no!
This is the hard one to resist this week:
Sentimental Stitches is offering the pattern for an 1857 applique album quilt - click here for more information. It's free if you collect the patterns as they are released each month. I sure do hope some of you are starting this project so I can live vicariously through you!
And if you start this pattern, and your projects are amazing, will I still be able to resist?!?
Oh Crikey! Stay strong Kathy! I hope you'll feel glad to be able to work on some wips/ ufo's instead :)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! We are being bombarded this year again. I already have started the Pat Sloan BOM and will not start this one. I could save the patterns, right? It doesn't count as a start then, lol
ReplyDeleteI'm downloading the 1857 patterns from Sentimental Stitches but I'm not starting it yet. For some reason, I prefer to have all the patterns from an applique project before I start it. Gay said it would be 20 months until all the patterns were released. Great, I have almost 2 years before I need to even think about it. If I decide to make this project, I'll have to decide on the colors. Downloading the patterns gives me power over the "do I or don't I" situation. Blessings, Gretchen
ReplyDeleteYou could collect them now and then start when other things are finished off.
ReplyDeleteI like Angela's idea..... but you will see me starting this soon. Must get most of my current appliqué project into a top first.
ReplyDeleteuhhmmmm....Barbara Brackman on her Civil War Quilts blog is starting another BOM. Starts Jan 27...just saying...
ReplyDeleteDownloaded mine the other day :)
ReplyDeleteI am resisting - too many projects already started and I have several books with patterns in them sitting on the cutting table that I have wanted to make for some time - I'm not even going to download as by time I would get around to looking at them I would have ten more things in the works.
ReplyDeleteProud of you Kathy!!!!!!!!! Good girl :-). I had such a hard time resisting a block of the day quilt that starts out in the center with a night scene of a city and border of blocks are added all around to reflect the farm at the end! There was even a $25.00US off coupon on the patterns. But, I need to finish my Dear Jane and Psalms quilts before I start another one...yikes...resistance is quite futile for sure...but so far I've stayed strong LOL.
ReplyDeleteMay the force be with you--to keep you strong! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm relying heavily upon it to keep me from joining SALs this year, though I don't applique, so those aren't hard to resist. It is all of the other ones I worry about.
I'm saving the Sentimental Stitches patterns for now. I tried to resist joining any sew along's and am already doing three--365 Challenge, ThimbleCreek mystery and Esther Alui's Hazel! You are right--resistance is futile!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you can resist. I find my mind just keeps creating more quilts (and sometimes I must, must, must start them), sometimes with fabric that hasn't even been created yet!
ReplyDeleteI've just downloaded the patterns as that quilt is so lovely. If you find any more projects that you manage to resist please keep it to yourself. No I don't mean that I'm actually very happy you featured it otherwise I would have missed it.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks make a beautiful quilt, but applique not's my thing so I'm immune to this one. Stay strong!
