This is what I was doing when I got home from work yesterday ... sewing hanging sleeves and labels on the back of quilts for the quilt show.
I was really annoyed with myself for leaving this job to the last minute, especially the labels. It really doesn't take much time when you sew a label into the binding. And I strongly believe that every quilt should have a label, so why don't I do that when I am finishing a quilt?
**Note to self: when you are finishing a binding, tuck a little label in the corner.... you know you want to!
Today everything is done and here is the pile of quilts ready to go. I am hoping in the car to drive them over to the tireless committee that is collecting the quilts. It's like dropping your children off at the babysitter and hoping all will be well!
Be good, and I'll see you at the show on Friday.
(Yes, I am talking to my quilts!)
Good Luck on the show! and...well, doesn't everyone talk to their quilts? Or have their "parts"
ReplyDeletetalk back??/ LOL hugs, Julierose (sssssss)
I always talk to my quilts. And, even worse, they talk to me. Some of them are quite bossy and pushy, determined to get their own way! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have one idea when quilting and the quilt usually has a different idea. The quilt wins! Enjoy your quilt show. They are a lot of work but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteI agree that all quilts should have a label. I have taken to using Bonnie Hunters method of taking an 8.5" square, ironing it into a triangle and slipping it in the corner as I attach my binding. No more iron on pellon!
ReplyDeleteas long as you don't hear them talk back you are safe! :)

ReplyDeleteYou made me double check on the Quilt show I'm taking my quilts to be displayed in this week-end. No Hanging Sleeve needed. Whew! Labels are on! I don't always add the hanging sleeve.
ReplyDeleteTake lots of pictures to share with us.
Hope they behave with the other quilts. I hear they like to party once those 'people' leave! I've been good at tucking a triangle into the corner when adding the binding. I don't always fill it out but it is on there for the last year or so! Thanks for the reminder... I'll grab a pen and go check them.
ReplyDeleteI always add the labels before I call a project done. If I don't the labels will never get added. Hope you get a chance to enjoy the quilt show over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI always put labels on now (just the folded square sewn into the corner), but never sleeves, cause I don't enter my quilts in any shows.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are family members--you should talk to them! : )
I would love to see a tutorial on how you do your sleeves!
ReplyDeleteTalking to your quilts...don't we all do that!! I get the labels on but those hanging sleeves...I don't put them on unless I know I am hanging the quilt. I will be sewing them on last minute too! Love the border you are working on for the UFO...I would continue the squares on point into the border. If that is an option. Keep chugging along...it will get finished eventually!!!

ReplyDeleteI was doing this at the last minute also. Somehow I got it into my head that the quilts had to be in on Wednesday. I realized at 10 on Monday Night that they had to be in on Tuesday. Good to have them done though isn't it.
