The month of December is a month of finishing up scrappy projects over at the RSC. I am slowly taking inventory of where I am in working on each scrappy project. These are the 56 blocks I've sewn over the last year for my version of Sue Garman's Omigosh pattern.
I like these blocks so much on the design wall I was thinking about not making the alternate blocks, and just making a quilt from these double 9 patch blocks. But then I look at the Omigosh pattern and like that even better, so I'm 99% sure I'll end up making the Full Omigosh. Anyway, I finished a couple of light blue blocks that I started last month and they are very pretty. Now I only need a batrillion more! But I think this is exactly the way to sew a large scrap project like this one, using up the small quilting scraps generated throughout the year, and making a few blocks here and there each month. It would make a wonderful quilt on its own but you are right. OMG is such a gorgeous quilt why not continue on that journey. Great job Kathy and good luck with the second part of the project.
It will be beautiful with a batrillion more blocks! I love just the nine patches as well, but the nice thing about a long term project is that you don't have to decide everything right away.
You are right, they do look great on their own but WOW when you look at the original quilt with the alternate block...HOLY COW!! I think you should make both of them!! hahaha

That is what I learned from doing this challenge also. I really enjoy just making the blocks and not thinking about the whole quilt. Then the fun day arrives when we have enough to finally assemble it! Great start, so glad you are going to continue the battle.
I can see how it would be tempting to just use these gorgeous blocks or make some single 9-patches to use as cornerstones with sashing for s single Irish chain, but I think I would at least start down the path of making the Alternate blocks as part of the RSC and see how you like them...
I love just making a couple small blocks a month too even if it will take a bazillion more. I know the feeling well, but someday we'll have something SUPER cool! Keep plugging away at it! Go for the big one!
Absolutely! I'd go crazy trying to do all those blocks all at one time. Better to break it up into little pieces like you're doing. And what lovely "little pieces" they are too!!!

A batrillion is a number I'm not familiar with, but it looks like you've already got that many! It looks beautiful
