In her quiltland travels, my friend Barb found these vintage Singer boxes. She thought that my recently acquired 301 machines each needed one. Barb kind of has "shared custody" of these machines, since she was with me when I picked them up, so she was on the look out for accessories for them!
One box is green with a gold interior, and one is black with a purple velvety interior. It has a lot of attachments in it and I have no idea what they are for!
Barb declared that every box needed a seam ripper which she added.
The green box not only has a green seam ripper and matching scissors, but it also has a pattern for making a sewing machine cover. Hmm... I wonder just who she thinks will be sewing that???!!
those attachments look like they are 'feeders' they feed the fabric in and turn it ready for the perfect hem, or turn over .... sorry can't think of the exact name for them :)

ReplyDeleteI don't know which box is my favorite. The traditional black may be the winner. But that green is appealing too.
ReplyDeleteI remember Mom using the attachment to make perfectly rolled hems on the circular bottomed aprons and skirts popular in the 50's. I was always intrigued when Mom sewed and spent many hours watching her.

ReplyDeleteI have a black tin. Unfortunately, the attachments won't work with your 301's because the 301's are slant shank. Cute either way.

ReplyDeleteWhat great finds! I love tins - all shapes, sizes, colors... I think that must go along with the "quilter" gene in our DNA :) But I especially love vintage ones like these with a sewing-related theme to them. I have one round Singer tin that I dearly love! The ripper was a great idea, although I'm sure you will never need it *VBG*

ReplyDeleteMy Mom still has a machine that looks very much like the one in the picture. The attachments look like roll hem attachments. Love the small boxes.
