I have been sewing up a storm here. My scrappy rail fence blocks are sewn together in a quilt top. I use the webbing technique by Bonnie Hunter to sew blocks together, and it is quick and easy. Well, it was mostly easy... not all of my blocks were the same size, and some stretching may have been involved :)
Now the quilt is pin basted and is ready for quilting. I decided on a variegated thread for the top and my stand-by taupe thread in the bobbin. I have wound 3 bobbins to get me started.
Now the only problem is... how to quilt it!!?!
so looking forward to seeing how you quilt this one! variegated thread is fun on scrappy quilts like this

I love this quilt!! Big stitch it, LOL!!!
ReplyDeletethis is looking good, now I have the answer of what thread to use on a quilt I must get some variegated as I have been changing threads for different blocks and it is hard work
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty quick work on that quilt. Have you considered quilting with a circular pattern, sometimes that's a nice counter point to all the straight lines.
ReplyDeleteI am a novice at machine quilting so will just watch to see what you do :)
ReplyDeleteWow...you have been busy! Deciding on a quilting pattern is usually a tough one for me as well. I like the idea of something circular and flowing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the flimsy!!
ReplyDeleteLarge loose swirls or free motion Baptist fans?
The Modern straight line stitching would be good on here too! Maybe throw in a Flower here or there to keep the eye moving. Love the Verigated threads on scrappy quilts.
ReplyDeleteI found a Rail Fence in my UFO box and am also wondering how to quilt it. I like the idea of variegated thread, just need to find the right color combinations.
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect to me. Have fun quilting.
ReplyDeleteThe BIG question--how to quilt? I think with something like this I would lean toward Baptist Fans, if I was really patient, or stippling if I wasn't. : )
ReplyDeleteI like your thread choice.
I, too, would do a Baptist fan or a circular pattern to add movement to all the straight lines you got. It'll be fun to see what YOU decide to do.
