It's the start of orange month over at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I have a few scrappy projects that need some orange blocks.
First up this month is spools. I have no orange blocks and have been cutting and sewing scraps (on my new 301!) for spool blocks this week.
Another thing I did was cut a sliver off of all the gorgeous hand dyed fabric I won from Vicki Welsh. I wanted to make one spool block from each colour and I love them! They are a perfect addition to the spool pile.
Hop over to SoScrappy and see what other quilters are sewing with their orange scraps this week.
Oh my heart....your little spools make me want to sew some! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteYour spool blocks are adorable! Are you enjoying sewing on your 301? I love mine!
ReplyDeleteHow is it sewing on the 301 with a slant needle? I have yet to try mine.
ReplyDeleteI also want to know how your 301 sews--the one I just got a month ago was a disappointment; the foot pedal is uncontrollable and the stitching so-so. I probably don't have the settings right..machinery of any kind makes me nervous...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteP.S. loving those little spools--gorgeous fabrics...
Ok, that's it. My 301 is getting a workout on Monday. It has been over a year - poor neglected machine. Love your spool blocks and those hand dyed fabrics are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI agree Vicki's hand dyes are to die for. They just sparkle. I am using a piece of orange that I won also. You have gotten a lot done already.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching you make lovely spool blocks of different colours all year. Although, I love the idea of a rainbow quilt, I am inclined to jump on the wagon. But now that you are playing with orange, and I will see orange blocks everywhere ... how can I resist? Got to find time and sew some orange too. Love orange. Enjoy sewing on your new(est) machine.
ReplyDeleteI love your spool blocks.
ReplyDeleteThe hand dyes are a gorgeous addition to your spool collection. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou would not find much bright orange in my stash. Those are good for pumpkin quilts. Or Halloween. It is always interesting to see what your blocks for the rainbow challenge look like. And I want a 301 (in black)!
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job with those spools. Nice orange work
ReplyDeleteYour little spools are SO cute Kathy! And I love the picture of them being created by your lovely 301 :*) Doesn't orange just make you feel happy? I'm heading off to the studio to pull out my oranges now!
ReplyDeleteThe perfect colour now that we are headed into fall! And they look especially good being sewn on your 301. Glad to see that they are working well and you are still having fun with it...but you know if it needs a new home some day ...my house is available!!
ReplyDeleteCute spools. I don't have one piece of orange in my scraps. It's not a color I use very often.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely orange spools - one of my favorite colors!
ReplyDeleteLove your bright oranges and the spools from the dyed fabric are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOrange is my favourite colour...except for orange flowers. I do not like orange flowers in my garden. Wierd, eh? Lol!
ReplyDeleteLoving your hand dyed fabrics in spool form :) Glad orange is your color of the month! Kathi
ReplyDeleteI like your Spools! I would have to skip this month if I was doing the Rainbow Challenge. I really don't have much Orange in my Stash! Maybe it's the memory of that Orange swimsuit I wore in the Miss Loses Lake pageant my Senior year...lol

ReplyDeleteThe orange spools are so warm and happy. The Vicki Welsh fabrics are so crisp and clear - a great addition to the spools.
ReplyDeleteYou have already churned out so many spool blocks--how do you do it? They look so happy! : )
ReplyDeleteOrange is my favourite colour! Your spools are delicious!!!
