Lady Grantham - Slow Sunday Stitching |

Dowager Countess slowing down |
The upstairs folks are embroidering, and the downstairs folks (the staff) are mending. My favorite character is the Dowager Countess, and although I have never seen her stitching, she does recommend slowing down!
What will you be stitching today? Something decorative and beautiful, or something necessary and boring?
I hope you make time to slow down and enjoy some hand stitching today.
I will be continuing to practice applique stitches on my green pumpkin seed blocks.
Please link up your hand stitching post below and share your project and progress with us.
A fan of Downton Abbey here as well :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the new season of Downton Abbey as well. I've just finished mending the hemline of some pants for DH, but binding is my plan for next. Jamestown Landing is getting so close to finding its home on my bed.
ReplyDeleteI love Downton Abby also! So glad to be slow stitching again today!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to find Downtown Abbey and start watching! I feel like I am missing out.
ReplyDeleteI love your pumpkin seeds!
I too am a Downton Abbey fan! Love the episode when one of the staff, forgot the name, gets an electric sewing machine and she has to put it 'somewhere else than the dining room' because it 'is so noisy'. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMatching the fabric to the bottle of wine!! Gotta try that. :D
Enjoy your slow stitching.
Enjoy your slow-stitch day!!! I am truly amazed by your applique skill! Is that "needle-turn" applique? and I LOVE how you arranged your final picture; matching greens, with a glass of wine :) Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHaving spent 6 hours in the car yesterday with some crochet--MY slowstitch, I'm planning to hit the sewing room today for some machine piecing.
:)
I think I am getting the series for Xmas. I will take some photos of my Sunday stitching and link and post in the morning with better light...
ReplyDeleteI hear so much about this show, yet I've never even watched one episode. I think I need to watch it!
ReplyDeleteI love downton and living in the uk we get it soon. I however like to buy the DVD and watch it in its entirety. So I've just finished watching series 4 and have the Christmas special to watch tonight! I'm sure I will get some hand stitching sometime today!!
ReplyDeleteDownton fan too. Wanted to watch to see what it was all about and was hooked after two episodes.I am still cleaning out my sewing room. Purging stuff I haven't or won't use. Making room for new stuff so my friends say, much to DH chagrin!!!So I will be in my sewing room, playing with fabric but the slow stitching might have to wait till later! Love the green bottle but isn't is a little early for wine!!!
ReplyDeleteToday, I will be slow knitting as I recover from the Grand Rapids AQS Show where by serendipity I meet two of your quilt friends!
ReplyDeleteNever have watched Downtown Abbey. I see they have fabric by that name now.
ReplyDeleteYour peels always look so "apeeling"!
I just finished re watching Season 3 of Downton Abbey yesterday as I stitched some hexies together. Now it is on to Season 4 and more hand stitching. I know I will be done long before Season 5 starts but I so enjoy Downton Abbey and hand stitching.
ReplyDeleteWell Kathy most of your responses regard your Downton Abbey references and I do not watch tv much so I am out of the loop... was aware (as I am a Bonnie follow too) that it is nice... but haven't watched as yet...
ReplyDeleteI am finally back to slow stitching and will be linking up later :) So good to be back at it! Kathi
I'm really into Downton Abbey too... was late to the party and caught up last year. Such sumptuous costumes! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Downton Abbey fan here! I hope to do some applique today, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I plan on re-watching DA before January too. I loved the episode where they brought in the first sewing machine downstairs too.
ReplyDeleteWorking on my Lucy Boston Blocks and sewing my Aurifil BOM. Happy Stitching! xo jan
Oh I took the test online to find out which character in Downton you must resemble--I am Dowager!! Yikes!! At any rate I am so looking forward to next season, too.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julierose
Slowly making another quilt top. Don't have a tv
ReplyDeletenot sure I should confess as I plan to hand stitch today, not quilting but some hardanger, have had a runner on the go for a long time and since I jumped on the quilting band wagon my embroidery had got neglected mean to put that right today along with marking some butterflies onto a quilt for hand quilting
ReplyDeleteHola Katty,
ReplyDeletelo siento, el domingo fue un dÃa sin costura, muy ocupada preparando todo para recibir a mi marido que viene de un largo y agotador viaje...
Bellisimos enlaces, los disfrutaré un momento.
Un gran abrazo
I think it is great that your fabric matches your wine bottle. I don't have anything to link today, but I like reading your blog and the ones that link-up. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a very relaxing slow stitching Sunday.
