Did you ever think you were finished a quilt, but the quilt insisted that it wasn't done?
I finished sewing my Plaid Beauty blocks together and although I didn't plan to add borders, the quilt insisted on having some. It was 48" x 60" which is the perfect size for a lap quilt. But apparently this quilt wanted to be a bit bigger.
Who am I to argue?
I added two simple borders.
And now the quilt is happy...
and quiet!

Plaid Beauty looks even more gorgeous with those borders. Good decision!
ReplyDeleteOoooo pretty!! Yes, my quilts tell me what they need, just as yours did...lovely!
ReplyDeleteFor me, the borders make it!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love a quilt that know what it wants!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! good thing you listened to the quilt!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the borders, I think it was a good choice to add them. Pulls out colors from the quilt and just seems to say "I am finished".
ReplyDeleteI liked it without the borders but now I like it like this also - it actually looks different and like you say, finished
ReplyDeleteThe borders make a wonderful frame around the quilt. I think it was a great decision to allow the quilt to have some input. :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt was right! Those borders are perfect. So glad the quilt is now happy and quiet!
ReplyDeleteI love it--so much scrappy goodness! The borders make a perfect ending.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt was right!
ReplyDeleteAlways listen to the quilt. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying the progress on your scrappy plaids. And yes, it looks great with borders.
ReplyDeletePlaid Beauty is gorgeous! Isn't it nice when a quilt tells you specifically what it needs to finish it up? LOL! Great job! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, that quilt needed borders to contain all those plaids. You chose well. Way to quiet the quilt down...I hate when they scream at me.
ReplyDeleteI know all about bossy quilts. I'm working on one of those right now.
ReplyDeleteLove plaids! This turned out lovely and the borders really make the quilt sing!
ReplyDeletePeople always think I'm crazy when I tell them a quilt (or fabric) can talk and you need to listen to it. This is so my kind of quilt!
ReplyDeleteGotta keep those quilts happy. If you don't listen, they quit talking to you and then you really make a mess of things.
ReplyDeleteI think the borders really finished this nicely, because you chose just the right borders!
Those borders look just perfect! Love your quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love it when a quilt speaks. I had one that, after I had the borders cut and ready to go, screamed at me that it didn't need borders. And of course it was right. This one looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you listened to the quilt because those borders are gorgeous and really finish that quilt in fine fashion!
ReplyDeleteYou speak quilt very well. The borders really frame the patchwork nicely. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteLove your Plaid Beauty. It looks wonderful with the borders, good thing you can speak quilt. I'm still learning to listen. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI definitely understand how quilts communicate. All day I have been drawing and coloring boxes trying to decide what to do with my purple candle wicking one for my daughter’s birthday in May. Yours turned out beautiful with the borders. You are just so talented and such an inspiration. genie
ReplyDeleteI can tell you this quilt was right to shout "more, please!" It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is really stunning. Great choice of fabric!!
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to plaid and have lots of ideas for quilts. But I love your Plaid Beauty. I'd come over and steal it (after it was quilted, of course) if I knew where you lived! What is the pattern you used?
