Miss Molly

We had to say goodbye to our dog Molly today.

She had been struggling since the summer and her health declined rapidly over the Christmas holidays. We finally made the decision, and summoned up the courage to let her go.

Molly was a wonderful playmate and confidante for the kids when they were growing up. She heard all the secrets of growing children, and gave them lots of attention and affection. She was part of every family milestone, heartbreak, celebration, and vacation for more than 14 years.
We often called her "Miss Molly" because she could be quite a princess. She hated getting dirty, or getting wet, and despised camping. She sure gave us lots of funny memories over the years.

But mostly Molly was a loving and faithful companion for me. Whatever I was doing and wherever I was in the house, Molly was within 3 feet of me at all times.

Molly really was a quilty dog, and a great quilt model. She loved quilts almost as much as I do, and could often be found snuggled up in a quilt somewhere in the house.
We were so blessed to have her as part of our family.

She leaves a hole in our lives that cannot be mended.

  39. We have almost come to that time with our Buffy. She doesn't follow as much but spends a great deal of time sleeping (and snoring). She was the friend who filled the void for my husband when we said good-bye to Watson: both cherished friends/family. As you have read, many are reliving their pain with you and send their comfort to you.

  48. I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I know how much Miss Molly meant to all of you.

  49. Oh, how sad :( I can empathize with you as we had to make the decision 3 years ago to have our beloved 14 year old kitty put to sleep two days after Christmas. She had kidney disease, diagnosed that Sept., and went down hill rapidly. Even knowing it's the right thing to do for them, it's not an easy decision to make. Our KC loved a flannel rag quilt I had made so when we had her cremated I bought a memory box for her and included, among other things, a small "quilt" from leftover blocks of her favorite quilt.

    (((HUGS))) to you.

  50. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is, we lost our dog Molly in May 2013 and our dog Charlie has cancer (and sadly, we will have to make the same decision in the very near future).

Again, my sympathies to you and your family.
