Nabby's Dowry

The layout of Nabby's Dowry Sew-Along from Heartspun Quilts was revealed last friday - click here to see the quilt. These are my blocks on the design wall and I switch them around every time I walk by. I really like the layout but can't seem to decide on the fabric for the sashing and setting triangles.

I have been auditioning possible fabrics.
I think the tan is too blah and washes out the blocks.

I'm liking the red for the sashing and the setting triangles.
Is it too much red?!?!

  1. I think if you use the red for sashing, the tan would make good setting triangles with the red used again as the border. Just a thought.
I'm sewing the border on my version today--in between canning pears. Feels like I will never finish with either project! : )

  2. Using all red would make those blocks just float on the top. I think it would look neat =).

  3. That red really brings the focus in on your blocks! I say go for it!

  4. I definitely like the red better than the tan, but I find it really heavy if you use only that colour. I like Janet's suggestion of using the red for the sashing, but then using the tan elsewhere to lighten things up a bit.

  5. I kind of like the dark red! Your blocks are so pretty, the quilt is going to be gorgeous no matter what you use!
