I have been working on the Deckade the Halls project since the Fat Quarter Shop announced the project a few months go. I decided to set the goal of making the entire quilt top from my Christmas scraps, and today all my blocks are on the design wall.
The quilt top isn't quite together yet, but the blocks have been completed.
I finished up the "cozy cocoa cups" (which were very fun to sew) but I am not sure I'm loving them in the layout. The top mug especially seems to be a bit more "attention seeking" than it ought to be!! What do you think?
Other than that one "loud" mug, I do love this quilt, and am eager to cut the sashings and finish up the top.
To see more design wall, hop over to Patchwork Times.
Yes he is sorta yellling "look at me" Maybe putting him in the bottom corner would silence him a bit!!!It looks fun, happy and very Christmas like. Before we know it the snow will be falling and Christmas will be around the corner!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous.Happy sewing!!
ReplyDeleteHe is definitely on the louder side of things, but overall I think he fits in nicely. Beautiful top!
ReplyDeleteLooks great to me, Kathy. Congratulations! Almost there.
ReplyDeleteHe is definately attention seeking! Good idea to try him in the bottom corner! The whole quilt looks amazing. If I wasn't off to sunny climes I might be thinking of Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks and colors! I've been working on this one too and still have the stockings and cocoa mugs left to do.

Lol at that loud mug. I would love to make this someday... it looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's a user of scraps so I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteLOL I, too, made this quilt out of my Christmas stash. I ran out of red and so I have an oddball mug as well...made out of a brighter red...I made sure I put that red in the border and it worked.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't screaming any louder than the Pink stocking and center Gift box. It will be fine!!! Glad you are thinking Christmas. I'm still in Denial, and that isn't the river in Egypt!
ReplyDeleteIt is looking great!
ReplyDeleteYes, I would say that top mug is definitely an attention hog! Perhaps if you used some of that brighter fabric in the sashings or borders? The quilt is so fun and Christmas-y - I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteWow great looking Christmas quilt.
ReplyDeleteAll that loud cup is saying is "I'm #1." And you are too for getting all your blocks done in such a timely manner. I have my cups cut out but stitching has not yet happened. I, however, have all of the rest done and on the wall (forgot to post it this morning). This quilt is going to have to wait a couple of months for completion as I have other plans for it: it's a mystery, even to me. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt, Kathy. Thanks for keeping me up to date on the downloads. : )
ReplyDeleteThat one block does kind of glow. It will not make the quilt any less usable to leave it there, but I admit, if it was my quilt I would try it in the bottom corner and if that didn't fix it for me, I would probably replace it.
Overall, the mug is not that distracting, as it brightens the quilt in general. I agree with another blogger that you could add some bright colors to border. You could let the decision "rest" a few days while you work on another project.
ReplyDeletelooks good to me, Christmas will be here before we know where we are and you ill have this to hang, very nice
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting. I stopped by to get some inspiration and mojo for my own Xmas project. I don't think the mug is too out of place--I have added an applique (heart? holly leaf?) to such stand-out pieces in the past, but I wouldn't change a thing on this one. It is delightfully scrappy.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...
ReplyDeleteTha sashiing will set them off. I thing a zinger block is fun!
