The UFO horse that is!
We all know that if a horse/UFO throws you off, you need to get back at it, or it gets the better of you!
This month I am trying again to tackle my version of Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll.
I tried in April, but I couldn't manage it, so I'm trying again this month. So here it is - back on the design wall again! My goal is to get the quilt top sewn together, then baste, quilt and bind it. Can it be done?!? It couldn't be done in April, but progress was definitely made.
The first step in getting back on the UFO horse is to cautiously approach the horse and make friends again. I will speak softly and tell it how beautiful it is and how fun it would be to become a finished quilt. If it is mean to me and refuses to play nice, it's going right back in the closet! LOL

I will channel Robert Redford as I attempt to tame this huge UFO!
Wish me luck!
To see more design walls, hop over to Patchwork Times and to see more UFO goals for August, hop over to a Lovely Year of Finishes.
You picked Robert to channel? How very cool!! Love that...and good luck with Roll, Roll!
ReplyDeleteoh that is way too pretty not to finish. Hope you and Robert can see this one through.
ReplyDeleteKathy, please warn me the next time you are going to post a funny!! I was drinking my morning dose as I began to read and nearly spewed it out about the time it clicked with your horse/UFO story.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and you can do it, you can do it!!!
That's why I didn't let Easy Street rest but went right through to completion. I knew that if I put it down, even for a minute, it would look too daunting and never get finished. But I know you can do it, it is almost there!
ReplyDeleteThe simple sashing really shows off the Prickly Pear blocks -- I like the setting! Isn't it funny how some projects just stall, not because they're difficult, but just because? Keep going -- this will be a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like it too. The soft pink and green....come on I know you can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteFeel the same way about my Easy Street quilt top. I don't want it to be a ufo any longer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the morning giggle. I hope you and Robert ride off into the sunset together wrapped in RRCB.
ReplyDeleteIt's too beautiful to keep in the closet. I love all that pink. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteGiddy Up Girl... you CAN do it!
ReplyDeleteSending positive thoughts that you can tame this creature...it is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it. You'll have it finished before you can say Whoa! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be such a lovely quilt. I couldn't help thinking with all the horse talk that I didn't want to 'hop' over to Patchwork Times and Lovely Year of Finishes, I wanted to 'gallop'. (or maybe trot or canter.)
ReplyDeleteI love your version of this quilt and I hope you two can get along well enough to snag a finish!
ReplyDeleteWishing you tons of good stitching on this quilt so you can finish it once and for all! I have still not quilted mine, but the piecing is all done and I love it - you will love yours too!!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! I was at a quilt show on the weekend and one of the entries was this quilt. Go girl!
ReplyDeleteYour version is so pretty, you are almost there, keep working at it.
ReplyDeleteYou have got a grip on the reins now and I know you and Robert will see it through to the end. Yours is one of the prettiest I've seen so far. It would be a shame to put it back in the closet (as she tries to get her Easy Street done)!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! I've decided this is the month to work on and finish off a few UFO's too. I have a few at the quilting stage. Both Bonnie Hunter ones - Easy Street and the Pineapple one.
ReplyDeletegood luck , i have two that i got out to stare at, hope it makes me finish them
ReplyDeleteThis quilt really deserves to be finished! It is beautiful! You've already put so much work into it. Keep at it one stitch at a time and you'll get it done!
ReplyDeleteYES, channel Robert Redford! I watched the Great Gatsby and wished he was on the screen whenever I saw Leo. Leo just didn't compare. Good Luck getting the Orca Bay to Basting status this month. My UFO's are screaming at me, not whispering.
ReplyDeleteOOPS, I meant RRCB!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is worth getting back on the horse for! You will be done in no time!
