Progress is continuing on the sampler blocks for my "Votes For Women" quilt.
This is Block #31 Tinted Chains: Click.
The hardest part of this block was picking the fabrics! I wanted the vertical blocks to be gold (to represent the "click"), but auditioned a variety of colours in the other squares before settling on green and greyish blue.
The next block is Block #32 Mr. Roosevelt's Necktie.
I simplified my version to make it easier to sew.
It looks very.... green.
I hope it fits in with the rest of the blocks!?! I started to sew block #33 and have had so many problems, I've decided to skip that block and will write more about that next week.
Very nice, good color,choices.
ReplyDeleteI think your blocks look great - green is good!
ReplyDeleteAm I seeing a lot of Metropolitan Fair in these blocks? That first one reminded me that I meant to ask if you had purchased a FQ bundle. It is so pretty and I love it in these blocks.
ReplyDeleteMy motto is "Simplify Where Possible". I applaud you! : )
Your blocks are great! When I did block 33, I chose to do a version that didn't have any y-seams. You can find the directions here at http://americanhomestead.blogspot.ca/2013/04/honoring-womens-rights-week-33.html
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great. I had issues with that contrary husband block too - in fact mine is done with the angles the wrong way. Oops - it did go together easily with hand piecing if you want to try it that way.
ReplyDeleteI like your color choices - especially the gold/cheddar? in the Tinted Chains! FWIW, I completely hand-pieced the contrary husband block. It went together easily!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks! You've done pretty well with keeping up with the sew along.
