It was my goal to get my Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll blocks into a quilt top this month, but sadly I have to admit defeat. It's coming along well, and I am happy with how it is looking, but the sashings aren't even all attached yet. I am reminding myself that this is a big quilt, and there are 28 blocks with 20 HST points to try not to chop off, so it's really slow sewing.
Not to mention a complicated border that I haven't even thought of tackling yet.
Unfortunately, this thing is going back in the UFO closet as soon as I get the chance to stuff it in there! I need to work on something easier this month!
Hop over to Patchwork Times to see more design walls.
Don't give up! It is looking good and should not be banished to the back of the UFO closet! At least keep it at the front of the cupboard so that you can take it out soon and get it done. Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteI like the color you are using for the setting triangles. Such a lot of sewing to accomplish this design but will be well worth it. I can understand the need for a little break from it.....but just a short break.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so beautiful...it's not a defeat, but a little setback. You will get to it when the time is right. I printed out the directions to this one and want to get around to doing it some day. Yours is looking wonderful, and I love your choice of colors!
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
Lets take a step back and look at all the progress you DID make on this UFO this month. It is that much closer to being a top which is great. Maybe make a list of some steps - next month work on getting rows sewn up. June - sew the rows together. Then July you can determine borders......Great job on moving this forward a little this month.
ReplyDeleteWell, finished or not, it's beautiful! You'll get it done sometime soon I know! Have a great week! By the way, loved that BBC show! What fun!
ReplyDeleteStop beating yourself up, any progress is good progress. Now put it away for a while. I bet you have it back on the design wall before too long. It's going to be hollering from the back of the closet for some attention. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the dark setting triangles--had not seen that coming. This is beautiful, Kathy. So are you doing Bonnie's border design or making one of your own (when it comes back out of the closet)?
ReplyDeleteThis will be so gorgeous when you are ready to tackle it. I understand about wanting to put it away for now. How about setting aside one day a month to play with it. A day with no PMS and plenty of caffeine and sugar. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt is looking terrific. Hopefully you'll want to bring it out again soon. Sometimes you just have to work on something that doesn't require so much patience though.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty and I'm sure you'll get back to it soon!
ReplyDeleteTwo years from now will it really matter if you finished it in April or in May? My late dad had the Ferry Boat Theory that pretty much explained everything. Wrangling a perpetually late wife and 4 equally late children into the station wagon with all our stuff for a camping trip that involved being on time for a ferry boat that left at a SPECIFIC time was usually an exercise in futility. When we (as expected) missed the ferry boat, dad would always (cheerfully) say "well, we're first in line for the next one!"
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see this one go back into the closet. It's way more fun to start something new, I know. You have been busy this month, don't get discouraged.
ReplyDeleteAny movement closer to the Finish Line is a good thing! It's very pretty and will "keep" a while longer.
ReplyDeleteYou made "sew" much progress this month. Give yourself a pat on the back! Just don't put this beauty away for too long, it needs to be finished and admired!
ReplyDeleteBut it's a little closer to a finish and looking awesome. That's how I'm working on my Easy Street quilt. Little at a time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the BBC series. Finished up watching all 4 episodes last night.
Progress is always good, even if it's not as much as you'd hoped for or planned. It's lovely quilt so I hope it doesn't go back into the UFO closet for long, would love to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteHey, you made enough progress on it to see the promise in it! It's a really beautiful quilt and I'm sure it won't be in the ufo closet forever.:)
ReplyDeleteWow you've gotten so close to the finish, but we all understand the closet.
ReplyDeleteI am always fearful of putting something this close to being done, away. Afraid I might use some of the fabric for something else and run out. Come on girl, I know a new project is better than the same old same old but lets get the top done.As PC Flamingo said will it really matter if it is finished in April or May!!! You can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteNorthern Blog Stalker!!
Getting that much done is a great job!!! There are no rules that say you have to work on it until done - put it away until you are able to pull it out and work on it without frustration again :*) It's looking great and will be a wonderful finish when you get there!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like all 28 blocks are done, that is the hard part. You are way ahead of me, since mine still hasn't even been cut out yet. Just enjoy the process.
ReplyDeleteRoll, Roll Cotton Ball is looking gorgeous. Even if it's not done, you've made a lot of progress on it
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty, that's for sure! Give it some time... I'm sure it will call out to you soon!
ReplyDeleteHang in there with that quilt. You can get it done but I do understand you wanting to put it away for awhile.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
I hope it doesn't stay in the closet too long because it is going to be gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely. It is almost done. Perhaps leave it on the wall, not in the closet.
ReplyDeleteWe are all cheering for you and that this quilt will set you free with a beautiful finish.
There is a saying: the job is half done once you take the first step.
This is lovely.....keep going, too nice not to be finished...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Maybe you could commit to making one block a week! It really is too nice to stuff in a closet!
