It was my goal to get my Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll blocks into a quilt top this month, but sadly I have to admit defeat. It's coming along well, and I am happy with how it is looking, but the sashings aren't even all attached yet. I am reminding myself that this is a big quilt, and there are 28 blocks with 20 HST points to try not to chop off, so it's really slow sewing.Not to mention a complicated border that I haven't even thought of tackling yet.
Unfortunately, this thing is going back in the UFO closet as soon as I get the chance to stuff it in there! I need to work on something easier this month!

Don't give up! It is looking good and should not be banished to the back of the UFO closet! At least keep it at the front of the cupboard so that you can take it out soon and get it done. Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteI like the color you are using for the setting triangles. Such a lot of sewing to accomplish this design but will be well worth it. I can understand the need for a little break from it.....but just a short break.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be so beautiful...it's not a defeat, but a little setback. You will get to it when the time is right. I printed out the directions to this one and want to get around to doing it some day. Yours is looking wonderful, and I love your choice of colors!

Lets take a step back and look at all the progress you DID make on this UFO this month. It is that much closer to being a top which is great. Maybe make a list of some steps - next month work on getting rows sewn up. June - sew the rows together. Then July you can determine borders......Great job on moving this forward a little this month.

ReplyDeleteThis will be so gorgeous when you are ready to tackle it. I understand about wanting to put it away for now. How about setting aside one day a month to play with it. A day with no PMS and plenty of caffeine and sugar. LOL

ReplyDeleteTwo years from now will it really matter if you finished it in April or in May? My late dad had the Ferry Boat Theory that pretty much explained everything. Wrangling a perpetually late wife and 4 equally late children into the station wagon with all our stuff for a camping trip that involved being on time for a ferry boat that left at a SPECIFIC time was usually an exercise in futility. When we (as expected) missed the ferry boat, dad would always (cheerfully) say "well, we're first in line for the next one!"

Progress is always good, even if it's not as much as you'd hoped for or planned. It's lovely quilt so I hope it doesn't go back into the UFO closet for long, would love to see it finished.

Getting that much done is a great job!!! There are no rules that say you have to work on it until done - put it away until you are able to pull it out and work on it without frustration again :*) It's looking great and will be a wonderful finish when you get there!!!
