Maybe I should put the coin blocks horizontally in the quilt?
Here I am working on more blocks. You can see that the back strip is covered with scraps, the block under the needle is about half filled, and I'm just starting a 3rd block. I usually strip piece two or three blocks at a time. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my Treadle sewing machine?!?

I think it's so cool you love your treadle machine! You get a bit of exercise while you sew too! Awesome!! And I love your strip quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove to see how you progress on three strips at a time!
ReplyDeleteI have been working my string blocks. I am losing steam though. I have about 16 muslin blocks left and when they are gone I will put what is left of my strings away so they can reproduce again. LOL. these look great. what are you using for your foundations?
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! I would love a treadle, so I could burn some calories while sewing AND still sew during the many power outages we experience. I could put it by a sunny window! : )
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to treadle, I'm thinking that I have 2 left feet! My husband sits down and has no problems!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, if you run out of scraps I can give you a hand! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing, looking at your work, I own so any of the same fabrics. You honestly could work from my scrab tubs and never see a difference.
I have been making log cabins and pineapples out of these tubs. Working almost constantly for a week and I promise I haven't made a dent in the scraps. I told myself I would continue until I could see a reduction or a king size quilt which ever came first!
What a great quilt! Love this one.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt coming along here , I am really impressed that you are using the treadle for the piecing , I remember watching my grandmother using a treadle .
ReplyDeleteThis quilt will be always have great memories when you remember how it was made. Sometimes it is all about the process.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool that you using your treadle-mine is just for 'decoration' :)
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt. Are you sewing your strips on paper or fabric??? Good idea. I was wondering how to keep the columns straight. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteyep, i managed to find each of those things including that teensy spider~!
ReplyDeletealso seen hearts, stars, flowers and part of a clock.
you are making great progress on your coin blocks.
