Design Wall Monday #49 - Christmas Decoration (aka another UFO!)

If a project has a Christmas theme, and even if it hasn't been completed, does it "count" as a Christmas decoration??
If so, I've put it up as a Christmas decoration on the design wall!
Last year I bordered all the blocks from the Dr. Seuss panel in either green or red, and now I am auditioning the light fabric for a sashing.
It's too busy, right?
Maybe I just need to sew the blocks together without sashing?
What about these fabrics?
Better?
Worse?
I'm too tired to make these decisions right now! I think I'll just keep the blocks up as "decoration" and work on them another time, which hopefully won't be NEXT Christmas!!
Did you finish all the Christmas gifts you are making? I haven't...hopefully I won't get paged to work today and have the whole day to finish sewing, baking, and wrapping.
What's on your design wall today? Hop over to Patchwork Times and see what quilters are working on this Christmas Eve.

  1. Merry Christmas Kathy!

Nope, I gave up in late November, lol! Anyhoo, I like the blocks with the green fabric with the small grinches as the background or sashing strips. Great idea!

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!!

  2. Well, Aidan's star quilt was to be completed for xmas.... not going to happen.
I like the green with red for the sashing, maybe a solid red around the outside of the completed top and then the green fabric on the right side with the white bubbles for the outermost border?

  3. I like the white smashing. Then maybe a nice plain Christmas red all around.

  4. I like the white sashing too! That is sometimes the hardest part - deciding on the FRAME for the quilt (aka sashing.)

MERRY CHRISTMAS - looks like you are pretty festive with all of your projects!

  5. How can anything be too busy with Grinch fabric? I think the busier the better for a fun quilt like this. Maybe if you work on this all year you will keep Christmas in your heart all year. :-) Merry Christmas.

  6. Very cute header!
I, too, like the white fabric as sashing. Your block borders are not really busy fabrics, so I think there are plenty of places for the eye to rest--I think the color contrast with the white is nice.
I hung unfinished Christmas flimsies in my sewing room as decoration. I didn't even consider the design wall, but I do have another that could go there! : )
Merry Christmas, Kathy--I've got to go finish presents!!

  13. Yep, I like the white sashing too. No, I didn't finish all of my sewing and I'm still baking too. Do I feel guilty? A little but I can give them as birthday gifts in February and April so I'm not sweating it. Relax and enjoy the season...Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I love your header too, so cute!
