What a busy week it was! I haven't had much time for sewing but have been working on another twister quilt, so that's what is on my design wall today. I just love sewing these things!
This is my fourth twister quilt (here's the first, second and third versions). This version is made with the scraps from my first twister (plus border fabric).
There are two challenging things about making the twister design at this size: 1) matching the seams, since there is absolutely no room for error/fudging and 2) how small the template is for accurate cutting of the blocks without cutting your fingers!
I enjoy this piecing method so much that I bought the larger size ruler and am planning a bed size scrappy twister quilt.

oh my! just HOW small is that template?!!! I've done one twister quilt (the size you use charm squares with). I didn't know there was an even smaller one!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a teeny template. What size with the finished quilt be?
ReplyDeleteWow!!! your template is microscopic, I wonder how you could get the quilt done.Very nice work.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Itty Bitty primitive pinwheel. I need to make another one. This one has great color placement--the red in the corners and the browns forming an "on point" square. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that every quilt booth at the creative festival in Toronto last week has this ruler. I did buy one, though I tried the technique years ago when you have to make your own template for cuting. Looking forward to doing it again and actually finishing my project.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You have definitely gotten your money's worth out of that template.
ReplyDeleteI just love your little Twister quilt!!! I have that small template too and have wanted to make one but it keeps getting pushed to the side. Hopefully I'll get to make one soon :*)
ReplyDeleteOooh, pretty! Love the colors! I'd go blind working with those small peices. Great job so far.
ReplyDeleteI love the lil' twister too and I have the itty bitty template to use as soon as all my other projects are off the table. I just love how cute these things turn out and how complicated they look when finished. It will be our secret that the ruler does all the work. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree-that teeny template is a challenge-no room for error or not paying attention. LOVE the results tho'. love yours with the aster manor fabric-one of my all time favorite fabric lines.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteYou do live dangerously, Kathy! And there must be a leftover that is too small, sometime :)
ReplyDeleteOh my - that template IS small! The results are amazing, though! BTW, love the sunny yellow daffodil and quilt on your header!
ReplyDeleteThat is a teenie tiny template!!! But you've inspired me, I have got to try this, although a bigger size than what you have :)
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness!!! It's fabulous and scary at the same time. I LOVE all your minis!
ReplyDeleteI gotta check and see what size my twister template is. I got it for Christmas and plan on playing with it over Memorial day if not sooner, love those quilts!!
