April UFO Update

Well, April is more than half over and I haven't made a single post about my April UFO! I am fairly sure that I will be able to finish it on time, because I really like this quilt and I have been working on it, just haven't blogged about it yet. This quilt was the Layer Cake Quilt Along from last year (free instructions are still posted).
I love pin basting a quilt! I know a lot of people who dislike that part of the process, but I enjoy using my Kwik Klip tool. And this is a time for me and the quilt top  to enjoy some quality time  together. I ask the quilt "how would you like to be quilted?" and "what colour of thread would you like?" We have a great conversation (which I would deny if I was ever asked about it by a psychiatrist!) and we make the final decisions for the machine quilting.
This quilt has chosen it's thread colours, and has decided on squiggly line (that's the technical term!) quilting, making each block a little different to keep it interesting for me, and a double squiggly line in the sashing and borders. FUN!
And speaking of fun, are you signed up for FNSI? It's tomorrow night and I've planned a special party with my FNSI friends!

  1. I, too, love my Kwik Klip tool, though I have to admit that I have not carried on that conversation with my top while using it. I'll have to give it a try! : )
This top looks very bright and fun. Are you using all of those thread colors--are you changing thread to match the blocks? If so, I applaud you.

  3. Oh, nice thread choices. Your quilt is right on the money for asking for those. The squiglies will be perfect for it, and so fun to quilt. Good luck getting it done. I'll be off camping in the wild outdoors, but I'll be thinking of all the FNSI people having so much fun.

  6. I own a Kwik Klip tool but have never used it! Next time I'll give it a try, since I always pin baste. Good for you for getting so much done already on your UFO quilting decisions--that always takes a long time. Glad you had a collaborator.

I missed a bunch of posts while on vacation but was happy to catch up and read that your dear brother was able to leave the hospital and celebrate at HOME!
