My design wall is a mishmash of different projects today. On the left is the first three "Knot" blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge. On the top right is a block called "Times Nine" by Jo Morton. The pattern is in the 100 blocks magazine (vol. #4). I am thinking about whether I want to add borders to it and make it bigger, or just quilt and bind???
And the black and yellow block is an experimental Swoon block. I was thinking about making a quilt of these blocks but it was very labour intensive. There are an unbelievable 90 pieces in this one 8" block! I'm not sure I want to make a whole quilt of these! Hop over to Patchwork Times to see what other quilters have on their design walls today.
Love your block for the rainbow scrap challenge. That's going to be wonderful. And that swoon block is so lovely. Whether it gets any mates to go with it or shines all on its' own, it is definitely a beauty!!
Your Swoon block is beautiful. If you forge ahead making more I commend you. I think one would be my limit (if I even got that far--I know, I'm a quilting wimp!). Love the little Jo Morton piece. What is its ultimate destination? That would determine size for me. I really like the know blocks. Do you already have the setting in mind? Sashing or "knot" (sorry--couldn't resist). Have you considered putting them on point? I think they would look great that way--I know, I am really jumping the gun! : )
Your Rainbow challenge blocks are great!! What a neat idea. I would be hesitate to make more Swoon blocks too. Yours is beautiful though, so maybe a small lap quilt would be nice.
Lots of wonderful block goodness on your Design Wall! I love the Swoon block design but yes that is a lot of pieces. But they are big blocks so make a quilt top quick, right?
Great rainbow blocks, those will look great together. The swoon block looks good in black and yellow. Your assembly method adds 10 pieces that don't have to be there... All of the sections that look like flying geese can be made without using half square triangles which saves a few. And there are a few other saving spots as well. Still, 70 pieces can be a lot. Most of the hard core swooners are making 16' blocks which makes a good sized quilt with just 9 blocks. Be brave!
