I am already working on my December UFO...I'm getting an early start this month so the rest of the month can be dedicated to Christmas sewing (and shopping, and wrapping, and baking, and visiting). This UFO is so old (at least 10+ years sitting in the cupboard) that there is no photo/record of it on my blog.
I have just sewn the rows together and as I was sewing, I was remembering how much fun I had searching out the house/construction fabrics many years ago. There are bricks, stones, straw, and all kinds of textured prints that made me think of different kinds of houses. I also had fun making each sashing strip between the houses from a different "street fabric". As it sits on my design wall today I am pondering border options...any ideas? More 9 patch blocks? I'm not sure I have any of the original fabrics, but can find something that will work. To see other design walls, hop over to Patchwork Times.
I love house quilts and yours is just great. The different trees are perfect for it. I hope everyone enlarges the picture so they can see all the different fabrics that you put in it.
Nifty houses. They do look cute. I was thinking of a bargello border ... but honestly, Angela's idea would be much quicker and very doable.
Congratulations on an almost done Dec. UFO. You have been very diligent on the UFO challenge this year. Congratulations. I was good for several months but everything has gone by the wayside recently.
Oh, I love these fun houses with the interspersed trees (and the trees aren't even all the same-cute). I think I would want a narrow, solid line like you have dividing the rows, and then a checkered pattern of some sort, whether it be 9-patch, or 4-patch, and maybe trees in the corners. But, hey--it's your quilt and you've gotta love it. Do what looks good to you and we will be happy to see what you decide. : )
I love your house quilt and the use of textures and blends is terrific. A border, I would fram in a dark (red, blue, green, black)and the a border of scrappy geese. I always think of geese flying over home.
I'm thinking this UFO is very happy to see the light of day again!!!! I'm really not sure what you could use as a border, maybe there could be some small trees in though!!!
