Letter Quilt Along

I have been the lucky winner of two blogland draws recently!
I won a book I had been wanting to read called "Out of the Box" from Lori at Humble QuiltsAnd I won two pair of fabric earrings from Julie's 900th blogpost celebration giveaway.
Thanks so much to Lori and Julie for sharing these gifts with me!
After my big UFO finish this week, I have slowly been working away on my letter project and am caught up to the Letter Quilt Along. I am now finished up to the letter 'R' and am amazed at how these letters look so different when they were all made from the same piece of fabric (which you can see in this blog post).
And when I saw "slowly" working...
mean s l o w l y! I have been working with making some of the letters a little different...like making the top of the 'M' look yellow, and the bottom look green by cutting the fabric creatively. I also tried to get my 'O' to look a little more circular.
Some of these letters were tricky and my stitch ripper was put to good use! Look what happened to 'Q'!
Since it's Saturday, I should mention that the colour this month for the Rainbow Challenge is black.... and I don't have any black scraps, so I'll be taking the month off from that challenge and getting some other projects finished up.

  2. I love your "Q"! Mine were so hard making the tiny 'x' at the bottom. I didn't do the whole alphabet, but that looks fun too! Quilting my Word Play project to go in the Quilt Festival here in a couple of weeks. UMMM What to quilt on it is the question???

  4. I'm loving the variety of all those letters, I had forgotten that they all came from the same fabric. So g,ad you are getting caught up, speaking of that, have you seen that there is going to be a crumb quilt a long over at jos country junction? It sounds like a perfect chance to start another new project

  5. Hey congrats on winning our book! Your letters look wonderful. You know how you could have simply saved that "Q"? Just hoochy the two tops on each side with a hoochy strip-easy and now ripping. Using that fabric was genius! So glad you picked a fun project-later on you can do these in your sleep! Did you see the cows we did? We are doing a cow show at Market with the funny cow in the book! You might wanna try it next...easy and quick! Love your blog-it is happy

  8. Love your letters. They look really nice all different colors, yet matching in a way. I did mine up to T one day in a burst of energy. Since school started, not having as much of that. I did get the book too, as I really like making them.

  9. Lucky, lucky you getting the book!!
I adore all the letters. In all the years that I have made letters...I have never made a Q. There isn't much call for them. I'm going to go stare some more at the letters!
