In every spare minute over the past week I have been sewing
indian orange peel arcs for my class this coming weekend and will update with photos later in the week when I am closer (hopefully!) to meeting my goal.
Between the arcs (just for fun) I have been sewing friendship stars for the border around my
guild mystery quilt. This is a pattern called Chocolate Stars from
Fat Cat Patterns, although I don't see it on the website anymore. Sindy Rodenmayer is the pattern designer and gave us permission to use this pattern as a project for our quilt guild.
I put the blocks up on my design wall to get a sense of the colours I still need to cut out....I think I have enough blue stars!! These are 22 of the 40 blocks needed for the outside border. Can you believe my bad piecing luck is continuing?!? Seriously, who could screw up a friendship star?!?!

you just made a new pattern, not a screw up. One time I messed up blocks I was making for a table runner. They kind of ended up looking like huge pieces of taffy so I just renamed it...

Lovely stars and you can count me in on making mistakes!! Sometimes I make the most mistakes no the easiest patterns :) welcome to the club!!

ReplyDeleteYes there are plenty of Blue. The odd block is nice. I have turned the star the other way and confused myself many times. Fun block to make. Can't wait to see the whole quilt.

These are lovely. My daughter Natashia and I made a friendship star shadow quilt last year. It is a simple and easy square to make. Have fun.

ReplyDeleteHey, when you finally learn how to make those Friendship stars, I need 16 for a table topper UFO. Would you believe I have put off finishing a feathered star topper just because I need to make those blocks? Loving your work.
