On the design wall this morning are my blocks from the Cathedral Stars class I took with Bonnie Hunter last week. You can see Bonnie's quilt in the first photo on this blogpost.
I forgot when I started to put the blocks on the design wall that they will be set on-pointe in this quilt, so just tilt your head to the left a little bit and you'll be able to see how they will look in the quilt. And I just realized that I will need a lot of fabric to make the setting triangles around the outside, and since this quilt is totally from stash, I have no idea what fabric those triangles are going to be made from! Probably should have thought about that from the start! Oh well...too late now :)
There's a lot of 4 patch blocks in this quilt, which are boring to sew, so I'm going to set this one aside as a leaders/enders project until I have sewn all the required 4 patches.

I love that quilt and all from your stash too, great. How was your class with Bonnie? I think her blog and patterns are great. I love that star but have trouble keeping the points!! any secrets?
ReplyDeleteLove the colors you chose for this one! It's going to look great set on point.
ReplyDeleteArn't Bonnie's workshops the best!! Great looking quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt as it is but it will look incredible on point too.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kathy! I like the straight setting so I can't wait to see the blocks set on point.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. I will be taking one of her classes in January thru our guild. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited in a while your header picture is fantastic. The quilt looks good with or with out my head tilted.
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious that you got to take Bonnie's class. Your quilt is wonderful and I can't wait to see it on point. I have a huge stack of scrappy 4 patches. I wonder how it would look done all in scrappy style?! Bonnie seems to pull it off but mine usually turn out looking like a miss mash. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh that is going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBonnie is coming to our guild this next year, and we are excited!
ReplyDeleteLove the tilting head thing and the quilt either way!
glen
Its beautiful and it's really coming along.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors! :-) Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteNice! Tilting the head works when the Photo is sideways too. Leader/Enders will be fun to play with all your scraps. Do you use a Paper bag to pull them out randomly?
ReplyDeleteOOOH! It's WONDERFUL!!!! I have on my October list to sort and cut the fabrics I am going to use for my Bonnie Hunter Leaders/Enders quilt. I want to go get some cheap buckets at the 99cent store to put them in.
ReplyDeleteSEW MUCH FUN!!!
Thank you very much for your comment. I saw your blog and see that you all an expert. Congratulations on your beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteI can not understand not having a translator on your site.
I do not know English, I use the translator.
Greetings.
I'm sure that setting it on point will make it wonderful, but honestly? It ain't broke! The quilt top is amazing already - you've really done well with the color/value placement!
ReplyDeleteLooks good as is if it is big enough.
ReplyDeleteOh your version is wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with so many others, quilt is great straight or with a tilt! Curious to see what you decide to use for setting triangles.
ReplyDeleteI've been using Bonnie's leaders/enders technique for one of my scrap quilts and it's amazing how fast the blocks come together!
I'd like to meet Bonnie some time. Everyone that posts about taking a class from her has had a good time.
ReplyDeleteStopping by via Design Wall Monday... hi!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like it set on point! Karen
I like what you've done with CS. My quilt buddy is nearly done with hers. It is one that I want to make too. I just finished My Blue Heaven...a green version. We will be taking a class with Bonnie in January Star Struck. I want to make nearly all of her patterns. Look for her third book coming out in the Spring.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be a gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeletelook at you go!! I love how that is turning out. Sounds like you had a good time at Bonnies class!
ReplyDeleteThis is looking so good :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the Cathedral Stars top. You are moving along rather quickly. When I was sewing mine, I thought the piecing would never end. However, it is well worth the final product. Your quilt is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBoth of those quilts are lovely. I am always amazed at Bonnie Hunter quilts. They are so much fun to make but look so complicated.
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing your blocks set this way and then when you mentioned on-point setting, wow ... what a difference. Love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours! This quilt will be stunning!
