Design Wall Monday #29

Finally... all the blocks are sewn together from Judy's June mystery!
Here is the quilt top on my (too small for this quilt) design wall, waiting for some motivation to work on the borders.

It looks kind of 'blah' to me, since I am used to working with brighter colours, and brown is a colour that I really don't "know".  But this quilt is going to be a wedding gift for my husband's cousin, who is having a fall wedding, and I think it will be perfect for the intended couple. I am leaning toward a single (easy) border so I can get this done in time for the wedding and won't have to procrastinate!!

  1. I love this quilt. A blue border might really bring out the blues in the blocks. Very pretty.

  2. Oh Kathy, it's gorgeous. I think you should put the 3 borders on it. Come on Kathy, do it. ;0) Anything you do is going to look great.

  3. I love it. Perhaps a plain border with pinwheels in the corners to draw them out?

  8. I like the way the quilt blocks look like the stars are behind the grid work of bars. Very clever.

  9. Congratulations on getting the mystery top put together. Even though there were three borders, they weren't pieced, so it wasn't too bad. I love the different look of the fabrics that everyone chose. they hardly look like the same quilt.

  12. Looks great, I have been trying brown out too and have to learn a bit about it. Your quilt is great and I like simple borders because your piecing is so wonderful. Lovely

  14. I disagree with you--it is not blah at all--it is soft and pretty and very very inviting. I almost want to reach through my screen to touch it! Maybe you have a print that you can just do a wide border with, after a stop border of one of the blues? Anyway, it is really looking terrific. Mine is in a pile yet but I have already bought a perfect backing for it and know what I am using for the binding :)
